    Worst Job Ever?

Reading the thread about garbage cans reminded me of a book I recently read, it described various minimum wage jobs in real life. Remember how being a garbage collector was usually considered being the worst job you could have? Well, one of the jobs in the book I read was where you had to...

    Item pricing/scanner law

Michigan elected a new governor whose term began this month, in his State of the State speech last week, he proposed ending the law here that requires item pricing (individual items for sale must have a price tag attached) and that way, the prices would be only visible on the shelf or display...

    Antifreeze spilling

Just want to pass this story along, if it prevents the poisoning of one pet it is well worth reading. Last week I was plowing the driveway of one of my neighbors, he is a K-9 cop with two work dogs. There was nobody home at the time, but when I was plowing his drive by the garage pad, I...

    Bent/broken flywheel key?

I have an '01 vintage Craftsman 6.75 hp self propelled, tried to start it two years ago and the starter rope broke, since I hade newer mowers I set it aside. Wanted to get it running this fall to bag leaves, after replacing the rope I tried to start it. It acted like the engine was trying to...

    Winter projects?

For those who are snowed in right now, what do you do in the meantime when not working (ugh) or killing time on LMF, or TBN, or whatever? I am in the process of cleaning up and rearranging my basement workshop (24X36) and building new lumber storage racks to keep my 8 foot long stock etc. off...

    Anybody have winter bonfires?

Have not logged onto LMF for several days now, seems I have not missed much at all, same gripe I had before...nobody seems to post any new threads. So here goes. Well, we have a foot of snow on the ground, and I have a brushpile 800 feet back from my house, it's about 25 feet long, 15 feet...

Anybody ever seen one of these?

I have been cleaning out my home office, came across a catalog of accessories for Polaris ATV's that was printed in Y2K, in the snow removal attachment section, Polaris offered a 48 inch, front mount snowblower attachment that mounted underneath the ATV, it was powered by a 13 hp rear engine...

    I HATE WET SNOW

THis area got about 3 inches of the white stuff today, and the temperature is just above freezing, tried using my single stage blower to clear the drive and walks before the snow could freeze solid, and once again my blower cannot move the slush out the chute. I end up with a plug of heavy wet...

How many of you keep a budget?

Many people make a New Years resolution to keep a budget, I have kept one for over 20 years now, meaning I can easily look up how much I spent on groceries or diesel fuel or pet care on any certain month going back that far, as well as being able to track energy use. I am not so detailed that I...

    Have to make a confession

Part of my resolutions for the new year are to be more honest, so here goes...:frown: I am spending less and less time on LMF and more and more time on TBN. Hate to gripe, but to be honest, the threads here seem so stale and mundane and very few members seem to have any interest in posting...

    Your laff 4 2Day

About 2 pm today my cop neighbor texted me asking if I knew anything about cleaning drains out, I know a good bit so went over with tools and a big drain snake, his basement bath drain would not drain into the main sewer line and sewage was bubbling up out of the floor drain. Well I tried to...

    What would your reaction be?

Every Christmas season, when I open a card from someone, it always reminds me of what happened eight years ago. My wife and I had recently retired together from our jobs, she had worked at the same place as I did for 32 years, I had 31 in. I have an older sister with several (six) failed...

My JD has no real factory toolbox, so I cut down an old gas can and mounted it on the drawbar to carry chains, towstraps, etc. In the summer I can install a larger toolbox type, but if I extend the drawbar any further in the winter, the rear blade hits it when I swivel it to reverse it.
