Just read the last few pages (starting at 17). I don't understand how I didn't get notified since I am subscribed. Very interesting discussions.

I myself always run with backup. Three mowers (2x30" and a 21"), two trimmers and one blower (two if we are two). Things go well like this. I always bring what I need and extra. No point in bringing more stuff than that.

I say use what is best for you. I have mainly STIHL and some ECHO. I fell in love with the SRM-225. The rest is all STIHL. As for my truck, it isn't the truck of the year, but I try my best to keep it clean. Most important is the mechanical aspect. I am heavy on maintenance and also fixing rust. Can't stand rust. Gets shot with oil every year and rust spots get fixed.

I would feel bad driving a brand new truck for work. It will end up scracthed and dented.

My scenario is different than most, as I am never longer than 10 minutes away from home. Most days I am no longer than 1 minute away. So I only bring what I need. I have a backup of everything, but only bring 1 of each on the trailer. Except leaf blowers, I always keep the handheld on the trailer even when I bring the backpack just because the area I put the handheld in is too small for the backpack, so there's no point taking it off.

Handling Lawn Clippings via Compacting & Packaging

We compact our clippings and then use a 8' trailer to haul 2 riders and two push mowers. The pac'r sits in back of truck and holds up to 2,000 pounds of clippings, freeing up space on the trailer to just haul equipment.

Lighter trailers don't put more stress on a car than if you were to be driving with some heavy passengers in the back seats. I wouldn't be pulling a dual-axel trailer with a couple zero-turns, but for light stuff I think it does fine.

It does quite nicely except on freeways exceeding 60 mph. Really struggles then. It's a turbo with a 5 speed manual. Would never try it with an automatic FIAT. I tow a gravely pro 1334G for the properties I do that are quite a distance. I use it for properties with small gates too. I have an interesting work list where properties with small gates I cannot get the Z Master through are separate from the others except when I don't have a problem using the walk behind all day. Because I use a FIAT, I bought the lightest, yet toughest axle I could get for under $1K. 5x8 leaves no room for 2 mowers if one is a zero turn. I'll be getting a truck and bigger trailer this year when summer kicks in. I'll be putting more pictures up this month when I add some sides and additions to my trailer

Why would you feel bad driving a new truck? I don't care if it's new or not, it's a truck and that's what there designed to do. If your worried about rust Buy a New Ford F-150 :smile: then you don't have to worry about rust because it will never rust.

I agree that running any business should be done according to to law. The individual that doesn't get the appropriate licenses and Insurances for there areas effects everyone that does. We all end up paying more in the long run.
