I've got a Toro Z Master purchased at the end of 2014 and put 330 hrs on it this season and it runs perfect, never had any problems. I also have run the Toro Grandstand for three years and have just over 700 hrs on it and have never had any issues. Both run Kawasaki Engines and they have been great. The nice part is that I still have two years or 500 hrs warranty left on the grandstand.

he runs it HARD though so it is kind of understandable in other words he does not take care of his equipment at all.


Toro's are good machines so your warenty is 1200 hours and a 5 year on the grandstand or did I read that wrong?

Yeah, The Toro Grandstand Has a 5 year 1200 hour warranty and is one of the best mowers I've ever run. The Z Master Has a 4 year 500hour warranty. Running a machine Hard is fine but you need the correct machine for the job. You can't take a machine with a 4.5" to 5.5" max cutting height and expect it to cut grass that's two feet tall.

Carscw- I run Scag mowers but I had Dixie Choppers up until late last year and I will say without reserve or bias that they absolutely loved bush hog height grass. I don't know the science behind why but what we have to bush hog now we would have cut with the dixies

I agree Dixie are the best for bush hogging.

I do run my mowers hard. But I also take care of them.
I put over 600 hours a year on my mowers.
I have a 2006 toro with over 3000 hours on it
Only on its second drive belt. And never a problem with the EZT drives.

I like the timecutter because the drives never go bad. And deck parts are cheap.

that's nice, what I meant is he runs them hard -as in trying to mow brush 1-2ft high as fast as he can and on the lowest setting then goes home after the yard he mowed looks like trash, because he doesn't care how it looks and then dumping it off the trailer and lets it rust untill next time he mows. He never cleans it off or anything. This mower is practically new and it looks like it's been sitting in the rain for 20 years

It's belongs to a neighbor of ours he has a few rental homes he mows for and he leaves there yards looking like trash(literately)

The mower is a 2013 Toro Z 2000 (I am not sure what size deck ) with 190 hours It has rust holes in the deck and he does not spend money on it at all. He uses the cheapest kind of oil, and the wrong size belts ( he makes them fit I have seen him take a belt off his tractor and use it just because it "fit" ) He uses the wrong blades, just whatever is cheaper. The seat is all torn up and it is covered in rust it needs a paint job pretty bad



The only reason I told you all this was in response to your comment about the "new ones being junk" :laughing:

anyway he just says that he doesn't care and when it wont run anymore then He will just go find another one to use. (he says he will borrow one whenever he needs it)

You are saying that the Dixie Choppers will cut tall/stemmed grass better than the Scags itch the Velocity decks? I have never run a Dixie Chopper but the Scags are good mowers.

The Velocity deck cuts amazingly clean, but we had few new customers sign up kinda late this year and they didn't cut through that 12" grass like the dixies did. Once we got it knocked down and mowed a few weeks on schedule it started looking great.
