Uh... The oil went everywhere, but didn't make as much of a mess as you might think. First, there was a fair amount of fire for a very short time - blowing out right and left, along with an impressive amount of smoke. I think something broke - probably a hanger for the oil sump - and when the crank came around it knocked the sump through the crankcase wall. The sump incorporates a large steel block that got flung like a sledgehammer. That also meant that the crank kept turning and the engine kept firing till I shut it down. Tough little motor. Well, now it's a tough little 3/4 of a motor. I'm not sure I ever did find all of the crankcase pieces - and somehow I managed not to get hurt. The battery died though - looked like it had been shot by a .22 bullet. I don't advise this even if you are really, really bored.

Hey Everybody,

Please reply to this thread with some info and/or photos of your mowers and other mowing equipment. Let's see those mowers!!

Greetings. I'm new to this site. Here are some photos of one of my mowers.

After Photo by rmcphearson | Photobucket

It is a 1939 Toro Putting Green mower. I use this one for the back yard. Emerald Zoysia mowed at 3/4". I'm a golf course mechanic. Reel mowers are my thing. I can use a some pointers on small engines occasionally. I think I've found the right site!

First up is the mower that got me started reparing them as a hobby, and my garage queen. I do use it, but only after I know all the small sticks have been raked up, and I wash it after every use.

My Honda HRB215. Really well made and scary quite. Gotta love those Honda OHV engines. And I love the blade clutch. I gt it in trade. It started right up with some fresh gas, and I was so impressed with it I decided to keep it.

This Poulan Pro I got for free. Owner thought it was seized. It was very low on oil, but when I added the proper amount it freed up and has been fine ever since. Runs great, heavy duty deck, heavy machine!

Here we have my Suzuki-powered Toro. Not exactly showroom fresh, and it needs a belt I think for the blade, but it runs awesome.

This is my Simplicity 857. It looks a lot like a Lawn Boy at a glance. I don't know if its just a rebadge or not, but the drive system is pretty neat.

I haven't done much with it yet, but its a keeper.

This is my Lawn Boy. It doesn't currently run. I have not yet had a chance in the year I've owned it to work on it yet!

This is a really clean Craftsman that I like the looks of and decided to keep it for that reason!

Again, I haven't had time to really get it all sorted.

My latest keeper is this Jacobsen I got. Looks cool and well made. I'd like to do a full-on restoration of it.

These ones are sort of termporary, until I sell them.

I don't plan to keep this one forever, but it is a nice, solid machine with the nifty one lever height adjustment. Needs new rear wheels and a belt, but runs really good. For not its the bush mower.

This little Poulan burns oil, so I can't really sell it for the amount I'd want to, so I've been using it myself for mulching. It was in a real bad way when I got it, so I've taken a shining to the little guy. I may just keep it, but then I have several other I decided to just keep!
