Cross reference Craftsman model no. to Poulan model no.

Your saw looks very similar to my Poulan. The coil has been a major issue with mine. The way the top engine cover is designed can pinch the plug wire. You must be very careful and be sure the plug wire is tucked away inside of the cover before tightening all of the screws down. Also, the...

    Clogged deck.

Back when I was operating a boom mower, there was all sorts of things hidden along drainage canals. I would have to say a mattress was the worst.

XT2 LT42 picks up a lot of debris and dust

That should have been the second thing done before cutting. The first thing would have been to check the oil level.

XT2 LT42 picks up a lot of debris and dust

Have you even checked to see if the deck was leveled as the operators manual describes? The cutting height selector will not necessarily match the actual cutting height.

Good deal. The Scag parts diagram doesn’t show a spacer. There is just a 7/16” bolt, flat washer, and lock washer.

You might not have to go completely vertical with your zero turn. The hoist would certainly lift it higher than a floor jack or mower jack.

    Blade interference

I would imagine that the mower hit something pretty hard at some point. I would be looking at the left spindle and it’s mounting surface on the deck. Check all of them. But, the left side is where I would start looking.

    Blade interference

Do the blades touch each other? Does the left blade touch the middle blade? Does the right blade touch the middle blade? If both outside blades touch the middle blade, the blades are too long. If one side touches the middle blade, the deck may be bent. The blades are supposed to be 20.5” long...

Lifting the entire mower off the ground?

Do you have access to Rhino Ramps or equivalent? If so, you can use them up front. Drive up the ramps and spin them and the front casters 180 degrees. Now, jack up the rear and place jack stands. Now, remove the rear wheels.

    Does anyone have Starlink?

I was paying $150 a month. The $28 charge for Philo gets me all of the channels that I usually watched on Dish. I DO NOT watch news, sports, or weather. That was one of the big turn offs with Dish. They would bundle news channels and all of the ESPN channels and didn’t offer anything without...

    Does anyone have Starlink?

I hope that you will be happy with Starlink. We used to have DSL and Dish Network. The DSL was slow and buffering was a problem. Fiber was recently available and we jumped on it. We then added Roku devices and put up a 8 bay antenna and dropped Dish. It is so nice having that extra money that we...

Are John Deer engines (Yanmar) reliable/durable?

The current listing of lawn tractors/garden tractors only have options for the Yanmar Diesel in the X700 Signature Series of mowers. Anything above the X700 series are considered subcompact and compact tractors and are usually 40 HP and below. The original poster was talking about lawn tractors/...

Scott's/ RoundUp Concentrate directions warn against mixing in marker dye before applying to lawn & weeds.

Read the label of the particular dye marking agent. The Roundup label states that a dye or marking agent “can” reduce the effectiveness. That doesn’t mean it “will” reduce the effectiveness. I would go ahead with the application and monitor the effectiveness. Give it 7 days to work. If you don’t...

    Toro Titan Anti scalp

John Deere Laying Off Workers in Midwest US, Opening Plant in Mexico

John Deere is getting slammed in the compact and subcompact tractor market. People can get similarly equipped Kubota, Mahindra, Kioti, LS, New Holland, Massey Ferguson, Yanmar, and TYC tractors at a lower price point. That green paint is expensive.

Toro zero turn 75755 will blow black smoke and shut off a half throttle

I owned two Toro mowers with the same engine. That particular engine has a two barrel carburetor and has a paper air filter and foam pre-filter. It’s very important to keep that foam pre-filter clean. I would blow out the foam pre-filter after every mowing. Both should be changed yearly or at...

Are John Deer engines (Yanmar) reliable/durable?

Yes, the Yanmar engine is very good. However, I don’t think that the OP is looking for a compact tractor or commercial zero turn. I also agree that a 48” lawn tractor or zero turn would be better for two acres. That puts him on a John Deere with a Kawasaki V-Twin.

Are John Deer engines (Yanmar) reliable/durable?

My sister inherited my dad’s John Deere D100 with a 17.5 B&S engine. It’s at least 20 years old and still running. The deck has been replaced once. If maintained properly, it should give good service. Better grade? They are residential engines.

Are John Deer engines (Yanmar) reliable/durable?

I believe that Briggs and Stratton makes the single cylinder engines for the 100 Series. Kawasaki makes the V-Twins.

54" BAD BOY MZ Magnum (zero turn) Blade Replacement OEM Blades - Blades Slipping

Why do you engage the blades at “low speed”? It sounds as if the belt is glazed. Check all of your pulleys, idlers, and spindles. The belt may be on the wrong side of a keeper.

15 year old needs some advice

A lot has to do with the brand of mower, the design of the deck, the blades installed, and how the deck is set up. You can get good stripes without using rollers or flaps attached to the rear of your mower. The trial and error method works well.
