What do you do to relax?

I've just taken up painting again. I used to paint in oils years ago and I've decided to try these new acrylic paints. It's very relaxing especially on days when it's too cold or wet to get outside.

Good for you - I can't draw to save my life (unless I have a set of drafting tools).

PLUS - I'm Red / Green colorblind. I always used red crayons to color grass when I was a kid.

Anything to do with using or maintaining the VENTRAC relaxes me.

I play with my beloved boys, surf the 'net, use my digital cameras, get out some tools to fix something, clean up one of my vehicles, read a book, etc.

Oh, and maybe visit LMF, hoping nobody will drag politics and BS into the forums...

I play video games  My wife doesn't understand it, but I can sit inside all day and play computer or PS3. I do enjoy mowing my own lawn, but after mowing our school for about 10 years for 20-30 hours a week, I do get a bit tired of mowing all day, but the striping always has to be perfect :licking:

I like playing video games and Facebook games too! My husband and I also play Frisbee golf on the Wii regularly every morning. It's become a challenge that I usually win.

Gardening for me is very relaxing. I enjoy playing in the dirt and recreating new beds and nice colors to compliment the gardens. I like planting different things.

"Pittle" in the garage, the man says...to me that sounds like something a puppy does before it is paper trained.... or maybe afterwards.

I prefer the term "putter around".

Have to agree, I plug the earphone to the Ipod in and go mow. Live in the country so you can just look at your surrounding with the music going and just enjoy the smell of the country air.

My favorite thing to do to relax is actually gardening, so winter bums me out to say the least. I have recently taken up wine making and of course someone has to taste test it! At least then I'm not thinking about winter.

I personally love reading. Whenever I'm stressing out, I will lay down and relax with a nice book. There's something so amazing about reading, because you get lost in a story and don't have to think about your everyday life.

I've taken a couple years off to serve on the us national team coaching staff... Which means I still go around to tournaments, just not competing. This year we are going to Russia. Maybe I'll compete again in a year or two if/when I have more time to train.

Super Smash Bros. (My favorite, especially with friends)
Mario Kart (Wife's favorite)
007
Super Mario 64
The Legend of Zelda
Mario Party 64
Mario Tennis
Conker's Bad Fur Day (crazy game, but fun )
Donkey Kong 64
Starfox 64

When you say new set do you mean with Brand New controllers?!?!?! I've had an N64 for years and have now gone through my third set of controllers (12 total, we have Smash Brothers Tournaments ) Console is still running good, but I had to get some more controllers and I am kind of bummed because you can't find any of the original controllers made by Nintendo, they are all knockoff's from China, or used ones from Nintendo that the joystick is as bad as the ones I am trying to replace. The knockoffs aren't quite right, the joystick is too tall and the handle is a little large, plus the sensitivity is off. I would pay good money for some quality controllers

(One of my) 12 YO sons appears to be following in your footsteps. He just started Tang Soo Do and loves it. And he plays finger-style 8 string electric guitar (Recuerdos de la Alhambra, etc) - he's very good. He'll have to work on the beach part though, 'cuz it's a three-hour drive!

Wiring, plumbing, tiling, framing, drywalling, masonry - basically replacing, refinishing and rebuilding every square inch of my house. Since I homeschool my kids this works out well because I give them french lessons while I work

Although I sure do cuss a lot while I'm doing it, to me it's very relaxing.

I admit I surf the web a lot.

When my kids or friends are over, we sometimes play board games/table games like Settlers of Catan or Crows, etc. recently, I found a game that is in 'production' that should be delivered in September - it's based on Melville's Moby-Dick ;Moby Dick, or, The Card Game by King Post — Kickstarter

also, a fun ,'different' , outdoor game for the lawn is Kubb; How to Play Kubb - YouTube

(probably not 'ancient' and the whole bones/skulls thing is bogus but, that is close to how we play - except the first team , on the first throw only, only get 4 throws, 6 throws for each time for the rest of the game, you can buy sets, but you could make a set easily, adjust the field size for kids or give them a closer baseline to throw from)

Camping & fishing!!! Nothing as relaxing as sitting around a campfire in the outdoors or in a secluded cove trying to hook the big un:0)
My wife "made me" buy a boat back in 1990, so we went to a Boat Show in Nashville and ordered a Sprint 18' Fish & Ski to match my 1995 Chevy truck's color(my male co-workers and friends always say they wish their wives would "make them" buy a boat when I tell them that:0) We live 15 minutes in either direction from Old Hickory and Percy Priest Lakes near Nashville, TN so it's very convenient to go fishing(and believe me, if the barometric pressure is 30 or above & rising and the wind is less than 5 mph.....my wife is ready to hit the lake). The boat's been garage kept since we bought it and may have 200 hours on it so it's still like new. We are both retiring this year and my first objective is to spend enough time on the area lakes to be able to put my wife on a 6 pound or larger largemouth bass(she's caught a few 3 pounders or so but never a real lunker). That would "make my life complete" because you wouldn't be able to wipe the smile off her face for a year after that!!!
We always tent camped when our kids were growing up(and when we saw travel trailers, RV's or fifth wheels pulling in we would say "that's not camping.....THIS is camping"). Well, now that we're old farts guess what??? Yep, we bought a travel trailer in 2008 and that's another thing we'll be getting our money's worth out of after we retire. We've taken a couple of long trips so far(Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine two years ago to "get a lobster" and last year the Outer Banks on Cape Hatteras to "go to the beach") and we really look forward to traveling all throughout this beautiful country and camping in every contiguous state.
Seems like you never have the time to do the things you want to do or really relax when you're a working stiff and we so look forward to the time we will have to do just that after we retire!!!!!

I love to grab my paperback book and fine a nice spot to read, where my mind can wounder around. while reading my books, it makes it easeir to figure things out. Had a problem with one restore project, got mad, left the garage, grabbed my book, started reading and found out what i did wrong on the restore by taking my mind off it:mad::confused::cloud9:

I have to agree on the off road bikes also but the old mans body just gets too sore after a day of off road riding. I still do off road but the rides are shorter and I try to stay out of the rough stiff and mud anymore. Most of my motorcycle riding is on roads. Never too much work to ride any cycle and it looks like a lot of work to race, but don't know seeing I have never tried it.

Sip red wine. Shoot my shotguns. Road trip. (Not at the same time). Read non-fiction (generally with red wine) and Xbox.

I also am an avid weightlifter and Atkins Diet cooking enthusiast and before my daughter was born I was training martial arts and had three pro MMA bouts.

LOL, yeah im sure it not to relaxing to fly remote control helicopter...The few times I have tried and a need to point out the tried part its more of a nervous stress at the impending destruction of a expensive toy.

I myself prefer to blow stuff up in some type of virtual environment. Another hardcore gamer here. No preference on the game or platform as long as things go boom.

FYI my therapist says its ok to say "I like things to blow up"

Surf the net, home threatre, putz around the garage listening to music, sit on the deck with a beer or two, cut downed wood for fireplace or firepit, metallic cartridge reloading, visiting range, drive my toy truck to cruises, and reading. All pretty relaxing.
