Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

I think I'm REALLY losin it !!
this morning, for some reason I started thinking ( dangerous at my age) about how many miles of UN-USED railroad tracks are in THIS country alone . THEN I started thinking , how many horse-shoes could be made with all that steel,
THEN I got to thinking about Black-Smiths and anvils. I remember in junior high-school, in our shop class we had an anvil, I remember they used an engine lifting hoist to move it when they were re-arranging the shop for new equipment.
I never gave it much thought except I knew you could beat the hell out of anything you put on it or the anvil itself.
SOOooo I got nosey... wanted to see what an anvil costs these days,... A GOOD anvil !! A REALLY GOOD anvil !!

Anvils is a blood boiling topic for me.
When the railway workshops closed down some prick bought all of the anvils along with a lot of forging tools.
He converted then to garden orniments.
So when you go to he house of a moderately rich arse-hole living in one of out rich suburbs, what do you see in the back yard ?
Two or 3 ex shitting anvils with some bits & bobs welded to them going rusty on the lawn
So the rest of us end up with a lump of you rail line, ground or scraped into a rough anvil.
FWIW Simsmetal had 2 mills in the USA where they rerolled rail line into different shaped sections

well I plan to keep my eye out for a decent used anvil, they run between 300 and 500 around here, just hard to find one that is close enough for the travel time, can't be away from the house for more than 3 hours.....wife and I take turns with the hospice care of her mom.
