Lighter trailers don't put more stress on a car than if you were to be driving with some heavy passengers in the back seats. I wouldn't be pulling a dual-axel trailer with a couple zero-turns, but for light stuff I think it does fine.

The Hitches on those cars are actually for bike racks and such. I've talked to the guys at the dealership when we had the MIni Cooper and the they told me they could pull a lighter trailer. They also said they would use the Country-Man or Club-man because they were larger and would be better to pull a trailer. The guy laughed and said it's not the idea that the car would pull a trailer because it would, it just didn't have the weight to stop the the thing and the weight of the trailer could just push the car down the road when you tried to stop.

For heavier trailers I believe that, but mine is a 4x6 with angle iron sides....I could pull it home by hand when it's fully loaded if I needed to.

Yep and under the right conditions you could drop a trailer wheel off in a hole and it would throw the thing out in the ditch like a kid throwing peas with a spoon.

Just because you can put a trailer hitch on something does not necessarily mean you outta pull a trailer with it.

In many situations the tow vehicle can be drastically over loaded but because it takes off and moves with the load the operator is clueless to the danger he puts himself and others around him in.

Not only that but you lose functionality.... I would not be able to do my job without a truck. Client has a pile of sticks and leaves he asked me to get rid of I say sure with small fee of course. Plus occasionally bagging prunings etc I fill up my truck weekly. I see some suv driving around I assume they don't pay taxes, don't care about their work just trying to make an easy dollar. My favorite is when I see them putting down weed killer I'm on the phone with dept of agriculture I've seen a few get that beautiful $250000 fine nothing puts an idiot out quicker than that

I agree you lose total functionality. The truck has to many uses in the business to try and use a car. Like you say those guys probably are not licensed and are just trying to make a few extra dollars. If your in the business you definitely need a truck.

A quick Craig's list search I saw 10 trucks in running condition under 2000. To get licenced here costs $180 a year. Paying taxes sucks but that's America.

Herbicide licenses are expensive but the fines are worse if people don't want to play by the rules I let the authorities do it for me. Can't even put down granular weed and feed without a $1200 owner operator licence plus a $300 broadleaf weed control licence. Big trouble

I will keep using my SUVs as I have done for years.

Some of you worry to much about looking like you make big money. Or looking like you are the lawn gods. Carrying 5 trimmers 4 edgers 17 blowers.
Wasting money just so you can say you have a over priced trimmer.

If you are hurting for customers so bad that you have to worry about the other guy. Then your not doing things right. Who cares if some clown has a license or how much they charge?
It should not hurt you either way.

But you assume because someone does not drive the vehicle like you. Or use the equipment you use. That he does not pay taxes.

By him not paying taxes hurts him in the long run. But really does not hurt or effect you at all.

You don't see how anyone could do yard care with a suv I don't see how someone could use a new truck for yard care.
I have a 2015 dodge I would not use it for work.

No no I litterly just said I don't care about condition of truck and can find lots cheap on Craig's a landscaper needs a truck or he cannot do his job right. I'll report anyone I can they will learn they need to be licenced if they are then I wasted the authorities time .

You say you use an suv a customer approaches you asks you to remove a pile of tree branches say apx 2 cubic yards what do you do.

I would say ok it'll be $25 I'd throw it in my truck right then
