It’s a vent hose. You do not need it to use mower. Let the tank breath air normally and plug up the carb hole so it does not breath additional air. The purpose of the line is to suck gas fumes back into the carburetor and not allow the gas tank to vent to normal air like every other lawnmower on the planet.

Alright you guys, I have searched forever for this one simple part. I don't know why it's so impossible to find, but it seems to be. I have a Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro 50", and it has been mostly a <fkn> lemon since I've had it (about 9 years?). ANYWAY, I had a hose rot and the mower wouldn't run anymore. So the hose runs to the top of the gas tank, and then into the air filter area. Without it, the engine will run for a bit but then sputter out. My searches have suggested that it's an EPA EVAP hose, but I have been unable to confirm, and unable to find one for purchase. I found what Kohler showed was the part, and the part number, but nobody sold it, and I had to go to China to finally find one. When it eventually came in, it was like 5 inches long. This thing is supposed to be like 4 feet! Can someone PLEASE shed some light on this?! I really need to cut my grass.

post the model no. under the seat
My
do you have the old hose..? If so, just take it to any auto store and have them match it up . . . . .
Hose must be made of unobtanium. I have several selections of Tygon diameters....would have been fixed in about a minute.

With the trouble you have had locating a hose would it be possible to buy some hose and make a splice to extend the length of the part that you have?

That hose is simply and excess vapor hose and should not affect the running of the engine. You can plug it off and the engine should still run normally.

I think you have more than just this minor hose to worry with. Most likely the carburetor needs to be cleaned and the fuel replaced if it has been sitting over a few months

I've got a Cub Cadet, and the hose At Top of tank is the Fuel Line. I know, How? There is an extension under that fitting on top of tank that reaches to bottom of tank. Make sure it's all air tight or the Pump will suck air and not gas. Crazy, I know.

A cousin had the mower, trying to fix it. He claims he put a brand new carb on it, so we’ll see

I'm guessing by now someone has mentioned this, but I will go ahead anyway. It's a simple thing of just taking the hose to any auto parts store, tell them it's for the evap system on a mower. They should be able to match up the inside diameter with the bulk hose they have and cut you a piece to the length you need.
