Both 689-00685 and 689-00686 assemblies have been NLA since at least August 2024.

Use the following parts listed in notes and assemble as LH or RH as needed.

Are these updated brackets? The ones I currently have are left and right hand side dependent. The ones being suggested seem to be identical on each side.

All you ever need to do to find the right parts for your mower or give the right information is to take a picture of the white sticker which is usually underneath or right to the rear of the seat.
The two most important things on that are the model number and the serial number.
Now for engine parts you need the sticker on the side of the engine which will have model and serial number and spec.

OK, Thanks.
I haven't read this entire thread but it sounds like you're talking about the evap hose that the wonderful EPA mandated a few years ago which is just a waste of time and money but anyways it goes from the top of the tank and finagles its way to the carburetor and there is a small port on the intake it sticks on too so it can take the fumes from the gas tank and burn them through the engine.
This can be replaced with any type of small rubber line that fits due to the inside diameter.
Regardless of what the part they sell you is which it probably isn't anyways, you don't need fuel vapor hose like you do for fuel line. You could use windshield washer tubing or any type of flexible rubber tubing that would fit onto the connections for this.
I believe the part that sticks in the top of the tank has a fitting on it so you can reuse that part and just take the fitting off otherwise hopefully there's enough good rubber just coming out of the tank that you can cut it off and use a plastic Barbie connector which you can easily pick up at any auto parts store or hardware store and connect your new piece to the peace coming out of the tank.
It's irrelevant as far as running etc though other than it could cause a slight vacuum leak but this could easily be remedied by taking the hose off of the intake and putting a rubber vacuum cap plug on.

Alright you guys, I have searched forever for this one simple part. I don't know why it's so impossible to find, but it seems to be. I have a Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro 50", and it has been mostly a <fkn> lemon since I've had it (about 9 years?). ANYWAY, I had a hose rot and the mower wouldn't run anymore. So the hose runs to the top of the gas tank, and then into the air filter area. Without it, the engine will run for a bit but then sputter out. My searches have suggested that it's an EPA EVAP hose, but I have been unable to confirm, and unable to find one for purchase. I found what Kohler showed was the part, and the part number, but nobody sold it, and I had to go to China to finally find one. When it eventually came in, it was like 5 inches long. This thing is supposed to be like 4 feet! Can someone PLEASE shed some light on this?! I really need to cut my grass.
Have you called https://www.mtdparts.com yet at 1-855-971-2271? MTD owns Cub Cadet. They will help you if you give them your model numbers. Let the people who have the parts do the searching for you and stop chewing up your time.
