Heres mine! Just got it last year; first snowblower and the most $$$ I've ever
spent on equipment. Have a Craftsman Mower, how do you like the Craftsman
blower? It looks pretty clean!

Well I only got to use my snowblower once last year, and for like 5 minutes, because it barely snowed, so I can't really tell you anything about it yet, but for the 5 minutes I used it, I liked it. I like yours! It is also clean!

We only got a little snow as well and I used it twice. It worked great, had to get used to it (being-
the first snowblower). Right now I'am putting on layers of polish (Zaino), did some touch up work
to the Auger and Chute area and ordered some drift cutters and front weight. Its sick to say but
I'am hoping for a 20" storm this winter! I just got a "Gator blade" for my Craftsman mower......

About time. Had mine out about a week ago. Been waiting ever since for you to bring some spice to this otherwise dull winter. More pictures please. Clip if possible. Deeper snow please. Some drifts if possible. At least one shot of end of driveway cleanup. A blizzard cleanup would be nice. Thanks for posting pictures. Hope you had a merry xmass. You get any OPE presents? I got none.

Awesome! To start off, I love your garage! Second, awesome snowblower! And third, I love the snowblower cab. How do you like it? Can you still move around in the cab and turn the snowblower without running into the walls of the cab?

Thanks on the garage. Yes I do like the Honda it is well built with only one piece of plastic on the whole machine that being the air filter housing plus it does get around fairly well. The cab may be the best $100,00 I spent it is deep enough that hardly any snow ever gets on you. (I live on a hill and have a number of garages and trees that can cause all kinds of wind swirels) It really isn't restrictive at all I actually don't have any complaints except for me the handle bars on the blower itself could be higher.

A week after that 3' blizzard here in CT.......

Here are my snow blowers. A 30" Ariens that is 72 hours old. $1650 plus tax at Farmington Valley Equipment. The other machine is a 11 year old 26" Snapper that has 9 HP Tecumseh engine. The Snapper is normally a back up machine to my primary snow blower. I have too much area to mess around.

Last week my primary machine was a big Craftsman and that was sold to my brother. It runs well, but it's a short machine, not the best for 2'+ snow. I like the Ariens machine as it has a tall snow chute, hand warmers and a light, ideal for my driveway and side walks. Ariens are the best snow blowers today, IMHO.
Let it snow.

Only $8000!

Here's my workhorse for the winter. Bought it new in 1994 for a decent price. It's been all I needed since then and overkill most times until I moved to the frozen north. But, last year it plugged away at the 3" to 8" snowfalls we seemed to have every other day or so, and I never got tired. I started it today and it took 2 pulls, so I guess it's getting tired in it's old age. When and if I need to replace it, I might just go with a newer version of the same-it's been a great machine.

This is my Simplicity P1524P snowblower. I have been using it for the past three years without any problems. I gave up trying to shovel my snow during the middle of the winter of 2010-2011 when we received over 100 inches of snow (for the year) and roofs were collapsing, not to mention my back . At first I was planning to just get a plain vanilla one from a big box store for $500 - $1,000. But they were all sold out. So I went to a place farther out and took my wife to look at some commercial snowblowers that were still in stock. Quite to my surprise my wife was okay with my spending more on the commercial unit. I guess she was afraid of seeing me collapse in our driveway

The following year we had very little snow, and last year we had a lot, but mainly in one storm that dumped 36" overnight leaving me with five to six foot drifts in the driveway to contend with.
Anyhow, this thing is quite the little beast. No flex whatsoever! Relatively easy to maneuver, and it has handwarmers, halogen light, drift cutters (not shown), and the push button control on the snow chute. No problems with the push button control freezing, and I love using it. Usually starts on the first pull, so I have not had to use the electric start.
The main thing I like is the power boost which kicks in when you run into heavier wetter snow at the end of the driveway where the city plows can leave four or five feet of wet concrete like snow that will bend or break most plastic snow shovels. This snowblower automatically boosts up the torque (14.5) and grinds right through it.

If I had more time to look I may have purchased a commercial grade Ariens snowblower, and possibly a Honda. The Honda seemed expensive for what it offers, although I love their engines. But so far this Simplicity has proven to be a pleasant surprise.

The lawn is mowed, and leaves have been picked up. Bring on the snow!! (No ice, please)

He said it was only used once or twice per year, it doesn't snow as much in northern Alberta so I believe it . I've used it a bunch this year but the poor thing struggles in heavy snow and compacted snow banks from the plow, so it looks like I'll be buying a utility blower and keeping this one for novelty during lighter snowfalls.

Very nice units. Have they blown snow yet? They look brand new. I like the snow cab, dual lights and the drift cutters on the 30" one.

The 30 inch machine I bought new 2 years ago and it runs well. I wanted a back up Ariens and found this 1 year old 28" deluxe machine a town over last week for $800. Low mileage but it needed carburetor work as it was stored with old gas in it. I serviced the machine and replaced the carb and it's running perfect now.

If you notice on both machines I painted over the original in dash head light and mounted an external light / lights that works very well. The 30" has 2 lights one on each side, but the little one I just added 1 light. What's wrong with the built in factory light? The light shines in my eyes and I can't see the ground around the machine as I blow snow in the early morning or late at night. It is also non adjustable. So I simply painted the light over so it looks clean, then replaced it with one that works. The light draws 35 watts each and the Briggs and Stratton engine puts out 9 amps of power, so the light stay nice and bright. I did switch the lights off when not needed.

I also added my version of "rolling skids" to both machines. I have to replace the original shoes before the season is done, as I have long side walks to clear plus a large drive way. These bearings "wheels" are sealed and roll without any resistance on my walks. They don't seem to wear plus they are sealed to keep water out.

For any one with the Ariens auto steer issue, or someone fighting with the machine wandering down your walks, these skids will keep your machine running straight as an arrow, until you decide on a direction change, not the machine....

I show how to build these on youtube, it's easy to do. Tools needed are a 1/2" drill, a hack saw and grinder to shape the old shoe and several washers. seen here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG1giQ0heaY

#55

gfp55

gfp55

I did not notice the stock light that you painted over, you lights are way better then the stock light. Shine where you need it. I did notice the bearings on the skids. You did a good job to make them look factory stock. Good how-to video, easy to understand and you show how they work. Fine work. I hope you don't mind if I copy your idea for my machine? I will always give you the credit for the idea if someone asks. Thanks for sharing a very good idea.

I will be in my northern home next week and will snap a pic of my 1964 Toro "Snow Hound" attachment Power Handle blower. A hand me down from my Father (RIP) but it still runs like a top. Recently, the recoil starter spring popped. I can't figure out how to rewind it myself, and I've watched the Youtube videos. I may actually have a dealer do this for me that has experience doing it. Probably needs a tune-up anyway and I don't have time for it this summer.

Does anyone remember the Toro "Power Handle" line? That seemed like a great idea IMO. One motor that popped on a bunch of accessories. I wish I had the Reel Mower attachment. That would be nice. All I ever see for sale is the entire package of everything on eBay.

It's a 36" monster, the biggest Ariens makes. I added LED lights because the original light blinds me as I walk it around. I got those wheels up front so it rolls nice. The wheels will out last the skids by 20 to 1. If the bearing (wheels) should fail, I can simply replace it. I found a big box on ebay from some shop going out dirt cheap. Machine was $3,400 ouch.

Here are the pictures of the 36" machine with LED lights.

Nice Setup!!!

I have a 725DT now plus have the snow-blower that I had on a 1992 Grasshopper 612, I would need to update the mount on the snow blower to the new style, my dealer says around $100.

I cant imaging how that thing will work on your 727. My old 612 never ever had any HP issues until I would re-blow snow (packed tight) and even then it just would open the governor fairly well.

As I remember the Grasshopper snow blower would throw the snow 45' no problem.

Again Nice machine put up a photo in action when you get a chance!

There are times when I could use a monster like that, but I get by OK with my old trusty 9hp Simplicity with a cab. Your machine was made not too far from where I live. The Ariens Co. has greatly expanded its snow blower manufacturing over the last few years. It is the major employer in little Brillion, WI. When the country experiences a big snow season, Ariens profits from the fallout.

Personally speaking, I hate snow and the associated long winter that comes with it, but blowing snow itself is sort of fun. My avatar describes more fully what I would rather be doing.

I'll do that if we get enough snow, so far just 4 inches this year. Wish i could get my pictures right side up

I have the Honda HS621 snow-thrower which is made in Japan, all steel construction, and it comes with the Honda GX160 commercial engine.
It's a great little tank, and tosses snow with ease.
Picture to follow, once I reach 5 posts. :frown:

Honda 520. I've got a 2-stroke single stage Simplicity that I picked up last winter for $50 too. Never did get around to making a new set of paddles for it and now it has fuel leak. I think it needs a new belt too. I got it for something smaller and lighter to toss in the back of my truck. I only blow sidewalks and garage fronts when we get a big storm. Otherwise I just shovel. The rest is done with my plow. Detail work around my place is done with my tractor if we get a lot of snow...haven't used it this winter. I'll add the picture shortly. I forgot it's on my phone.

Edit: Added pic

Cub Cadet 724TE Bought new in 1996. Still working out the quirks. Clean and adjusted the carb today so it is running much better.

And I just got this vintage Montgomery Wards Powr-Kraft 494A. Youza! I got it running today but it needs carb cleaning and a tank gaskets. Runs very rough, lots of popping. Like it's starving for gas?

Does that Briggs serial number decode to 1962?

My new to me $350 (early to mid 80s?) MTD snowflite. Matches my 81 lawnfllite. Runs pretty good, just needs a muffler, belts very soon and some carb work (leaks immediately if you don't close the valve before shutting it off). Oil pic was before I changed it.
2005 craftsman (AYP) needed cables, belts and broke a shear pin when something got caught in the auger all in the same week. I got this one with major weather coming in. Ran it for a few hours so far and I like it much better than the newer one. Btw how do you guys post pics on this forum? Crop every pic before posting or use an ancient camera? Mine is 48mp but I have it in 12mp mode and still the file size is too large. Pics work fine in all other forums I frequent.
