We tried to tax EV's to compensate for the lack of fuel excise but it got overturned in the high ( your Supreme ) court .
It all goes back to one E Musk , the reincarnation of P T Barnham who pretended to be on a save the planet crusade when like most excessively wealthy he was only in t for the money honey .
Then he tapped into the conspiracy theory nutters and for some reason the bulk of the population will swallow a conspiracy theory hook , line, sinker, rod , reel & boat .
Where a few seconds of actual though would have revealed the truth.
The only conspiracy between auto makers & the fuel engine is the continued "upgrading" of models by fitted a bigger engine, which is also done by mower companies .
Just about every auto maker had spent a small fortune on R & D into EV's and rejected the models , for good reason.
And like I have said from the start, if Musk really wanted to combat air pollution then his first model would have been a taxi cab, followed by a 1 ton delivery van then a 2 ton delivery van rather than a 200 mph penis extension .
When we were trying to clean up Sydneys air there was a subsidy for converting taxis to LPG and within 2 years almost the entire 7,000 cabs were running on LPG
Then there was a business subsidy to convert new van to LPG and again 2/3 of the 16,000 1 ton delivery vans were LPG powered because business owners can do maths. The fact that there has been no interest in E-vans speaks buckets about the truth of the Electric Messiah's promises .
Give him his due respect, the new Tesla motors are excellent & a work of pure engineering porn so if a reliable battery ev emerges then the drive train is there ready to go
However I can not see any business buying anE_V with a Lithium battery after the Luton air port fire as the total physical damage bill is now over £ 200,000,000 and still rising as the airlines are yet to make claims .
Now all insurance policies have a claim payment limit ( read your fine print ) and none of them extend to £ 200,000,000 ( or the US $ equivalent ) so that leaves the vehicle owner holding the bag .
Now imagine if that happened t a Fed-ex van under a multistory building which due to the damage the extreme heat generated had to be demolished in say New York ?
