And I don't think that we have seen the full effect of those yet.
No, I agree 100%. Saw a piece on TV about a family that was pro vaccine tonite. Said they let their under 12 year old daughter take this New (testing-phase) covid shot. Kid got gravely ill in a day or so & was hospitalized 9 times, now having heart issues..

You don't hear a word about that stuff.

My main with EVs is two fold. one is the range and the other is charging times. And now comes the cost of repairs too. Only the rich can afford these EV right now and even they are complaining about costs to maintain them.
Ahh, that would be three fold. But agree 100%. Not ready for prime time. And building them (includes mining the material for batteries) is more polluting than our gas vehicles.

Agreed, but don't force folks into them.. Like the mandated shots. See how well that went.

That's the thing though. EV's aren't really being forced on anyone. And for 99.9999% of the country, we weren't forced to take the Trump shot. Biden isn't at war with the oil companies. And now that inflation is coming down, the higher prices we're paying we're paying isn't all from inflation. A lot of it is, but not all.
Companies know that consumers are used to paying higher prices. So they'll just let them pay the higher prices.

It's like charging more for your labor rate during the winter, because there's not as much work coming in. When spring hits, and you realize that no one complained about the $10hr increase, so you keep it at the new level.

There's so much misinformation out there, about so many things. Political scams, product scams, services scams. There's a scammer born every minute.
I remember when the conspiracy theorist were saying that the Trump shot was going to gives us all vaids. LOL..

As far as EV's go, within a few years, I'm hoping they'll be running with sodium ion batteries and that they'll be located in a place where they can be easily removed and replaced by a fully charged pack. Something like a 5 minute swap.
What they have now, only fits a certain % of people. Those who only drive maybe 200 miles per day (at most). They just go to work and back. And for those people, it's great. Especially when the price of gas is $4 per gallon.

Not many could afford gas powered cars when they first came out. Heck, before that, a lot of folks couldn't afford horses.

There's car companies who are trying to find ways of bringing the costs down. But with the way the economy is, and this enormous labor costs, it's going to be a while.

And personally, I don't believe the costs will ever come down. It'll be wages increasing to match inflation. At this point, prices never come down. We just learn to adjust. The scary thing about the low end EV's, is that because of production costs, they have to skimp out on quality to reduce costs.
You know, like a the 1980 Chevy Citation. lol Or just about any of the cars that were being built when Americans started getting away from the Barnaby Jones-mobile's.

They pretty much do, since electricity is taxed.
At what rate? Tn pays 27.4 cents per gallon
Energy
T.C.A. § 67-6-206(b)(1) also provides that a “tax at the rate of one and one-half percent (1.5%) shall be imposed with respect to gas, electricity, fuel oil, coal, and other energy fuels when sold or used by manufacturers.” T.C.A. § 67-6-704 exempts all energy sales from the local sales tax. This state-only sales tax is in lieu of the combined state and local sales tax levied on other taxable sales (seven percent (7%) state rate plus your local rate).
So on top of the sales tax that we all pay and we with gas powered vehicles we are paying 27.4 cents a gallon as well. That goes for the up keep of the roads they still are not paying their fair share.

Pretty much what he said.

And when anything "green" is subsided we all get the privilege of paying for it whether we like it or not.

"Does the government subsidize EV cars?

Average direct subsidies from federal and state governments amount to almost $9,000 per vehicle over 10 years while direct subsidies from utilities push the amount over $10,000. But manufacturers receive subsidies too, and regulations force them to produce more and more EVs, even if the vehicles aren't profitable.Nov 9, 2023"

You throw motor fuel taxes on those electric charging rates and I bet the savings isn't there

For IL You will pay $.454/gallon for state motor fuel tax, plus $.003/gallon for environment fee, plus $.008/gallon for underground storage tank fee plus the $.184/gallon for federal motor tax for gas

And $.529/gallon for motor state motor fuel tax, plus $.003/gallon for environmental impact fee, plus $.008/gallon for underground storage tank fee, plus $.224/gallon for federal motor fuel tax for diesel.
