Hey! That's "Hello" in my area of Kentucky. I have a Cub Cadet 2518 (44" cut - Kohler Command Engine) that I bought new in 2002 and paid right at $4,000 for it. I use it to mow about 3 acres - a lot of it is tough mowing - and it has done this well for the 14 years that I have owned it. I have done the usual servicing and occasional repairs to it myself. I have even replaced the pto clutch after 10 years, by watching someone else do it on YouTube. Other than that, I have replaced the idler pulleys on the deck and on the front of the mower, and a new drive belt about every other year, and 1 new front tire. Overall, I'm pleased with the 2518. I may have a big problem today, though, as described in my post under "Leaves".

A new mower for 2017? Maybe. I'll repair this one again if i can, but if not, I hope that my next one will be as dependable as this one.

Those 2000 series are one tough mower.
I can not get my hands on enough of them.
We are semi- rural and I do a reasonable trade fitting fire extinguishers to them.
A 5lb one fits nice across the back of fender.
Perhaps because people around here use them for really rough mowing but they do seem to be involed in a larger number of deck fires than other brands.

Hello,
I have a GT1554 that needs work. Trying to decide on whether to try and rebuild the engine, or go a different direction with it.

Tim, welcome to the zoo. I think you will find that a mower engine is a very simple engine to work on, if you have a good manual, a few tools and a willingness to think things through. LOTS of knowledgeable people on here so feel free to ask questions. What part of Texas are you in, I'm off Lake Conroe north of Houston.

Hi I am a new member from Australia (Queensland).

We just moved to acreage, 5 acres actually, and when we bought the property two Cub Cadet mowers (a 3200 and a 2000 series) came with the property.

Lucky man.
They are some of the best mowers for medium acreage ever imported into Australia.
Both well worth keeping.
If serviced properly you will get a lot of good service from those 2 mowers.
