Thanks much and they are coming down but still multi hundreds of dollars. That is one on the lower end of the price range so I am looking more and more! Maybe Harbor Freight will come out with a version? Sorry for the off topic questions? Does it work as advertised? Any complaints? . . .

    Steering damper question

Hope it works? But what I found is yes it will thread back on. But if it has pulled the threads once it would not stay together long? But yours sounds like it was not hooked up from the factory so nothing is broken. Should stay together. . . .

Hydro-Gear ZT 3100, 150 hours, service done at 75 hours. Right side is much slower. Tried to adjust, no luck.

Much time has passed and many problems getting the correct hydro! After sending the wrong ones back finally got what looks like the correct one. It was a battle! Installed it but now have the brake lever locked solid and will not move? The other side is easily moved by hand? Now they have...

    Hydraulic Pump Belt

Not sure but on my Raptor SD54 the original belt was cogged and then was updated by Hustler to a regular non-cogged belt. My cogged belt broke. . . .

    Steering damper question

My Raptor SD54 did the same thing and what has happened is it has not unscrewed. The rod has pulled out of the threaded end. You can purchase just the ends too and I got some with metal threads instead of the crappy plastic units used from the factory. . . .

Hustler Fastrak - broken alignment/stabilizer arm, how do I remove it?

When faced with things like this I use Evaporust. WAY better than Diesel. But glad to hear you got it working. It was a success and that's what counts. . . .

    Steering Dampers - #603983

    Steering Dampers - #603983

Got the strut out and it appears to be fine and the end has pulled off? It's threaded and I see no damage to the threads male or female? Here is the label on the strut if you want to order one. The strut looks OK? But since that end came off once already I have a feeling it will pop off...

    Steering Dampers - #603983

Had my right steering arm get real loose and floppy while mowing. That steering arm is REAL sensitive and difficult to control so I see why they installed these dampers! Found the damper #603983 is broken after 9 years of use. Raptor SD54 Mower. They are $65 each and with the age of things I was...

Hydro-Gear ZT 3100, 150 hours, service done at 75 hours. Right side is much slower. Tried to adjust, no luck.

ILengine or Startech where do you recommend to buy a complete unit? From what's been posted we need part ZL-GCEE-3K5A-1NXX? Looking at that number I find a superseded one? Is that correct? It's the part number Startech posted up thread as the superseded number. ZL-GCEE-SK5A-1NXX ZT-3100 Hydro...

ILengine Thanks for the help! We received the parts but it looks like Hydro-Gear changed the brake mechanism and the center section is different and won't work for our Hydro? Old one in back with the loop. New one in front with just a block? Here is the back side of the center section...

Hydro-Gear ZT 3100, 150 hours, service done at 75 hours. Right side is much slower. Tried to adjust, no luck.

Wanted to come back for more advice? Got the hydro blown apart and found the problem causing the lock up? The brake setup was much different on this one than what we were expecting and it was not broken. Found destroyed springs in what I "think" is called the cylinder block? Here are the...

Hydro-Gear ZT 3100, 150 hours, service done at 75 hours. Right side is much slower. Tried to adjust, no luck.

OK thanks again for checking. Our first attempt will be to take it apart looking for a possible broken brake pawl. If that's not it we will probably be buying a replacement hydro. Since it just locked up all of a sudden and the fluid looked fine. It must be a mechanical failure internal to the...

Thanks for your quick and expert reply. That is expensive but probably the best way to go for a home guy. Looking at the number I see ZL-GCEE-3K5A-1NXX? Maybe a typo SK5A? Sorry one more question? Do you have a preferred supplier? One you have dealt with before? . . .

Startech I am helping a friend and we are looking for a replacement ZT-3200 #ZL-GCEE-1K5A-1EXX. Right wheel motor for a old Hustler Mini-Z Model #06050615. Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

I guess it depend on where you live as I regularly mow in 95-100 degree's all summer long? I have always thought the cheap plastic oil drain hose was just junk. To my surprise I found out (What took me so long to find this?) that Kawasaki does have a nice 16" rubber hose with a nice brass cap...

    Buying compatible mower blades.

I have seen the star shaped hole and that's so when you hit something solid and stop things dead the blade shears the star part off and not the crankshaft key or bend something else. I have only seen that on lower line mowers and push mowers? I have never had any problems with the plain old...

Welcome to the Hustler Forum -- Check in Here First!

No Hustler got sold to Stanley (Also know as Stanley Black and Decker-Yes the giant that owns many product lines!) back in 2021. Also note that Hustler is just a brand and the company was known as Excel Industries. They made Hustler and Big Dog mower brands. Still in business and still growing...

    Nice Air Filtration Upgrade!

I also have added this to my Hustler Raptor 54" (FR691V Engine). Surprised at how rinky dink the factory air filter was. Then I saw that Kawasaki does install this better system on their better engines but as always it costs more. So it's $230+ and that would increase the selling price of this...

    Superzilla

Another fan of ATF and Acetone mixture. I put it in a spray can with compressed air. Cheap and if you look at tests it usually comes out on top. But you will never see it in a commercial product because it's to common and has no special ingredients. I was very surprised too because I had always...

    Drive Belt Replacement

I found out how to change the deck belt with no tools. Pretty simple once you understand where to work on it. I have a Raptor SD 54" Mower. Longest WIX oil filter I can use on my Kawasaki FR651V ?

Don't worry about the micron rating being too low. Way more than that to look at when picking a filter. Size of the filter media is number one. The more of that you have the better the filter and of course the higher the price too! No increase in pressure drop? Read about filters. It works just...

Longest WIX oil filter I can use on my Kawasaki FR651V ?

So far over 100 hours using the bigger Wix filters with zero problems. Probably won't make a measurable difference but I do like the few extra ounces of engine oil. I also added the factory Kawasaki oil cooler plate. Not as good as a completely separate cooler radiator but it does remove some...

    Maintenance Tachometer

It depends on what you want to measure? I got a mechanical/photo tachometer. Then I don't need to have any ignition or electrical connections and I can do stuff like PTO/shaft rpm's or electric motor speeds. I have some stuff that it's very difficult to get to anything so access is a major...

so much confusion on Kawasaki oil filters.

Yes I have also added a longer and larger capacity filter. Here is what I found for my Kawasaki FR691V engine. Factory called for #49065-7007 Wix 57035 2.3" long-This is the same length as the stock filter. Wix 51056 2.7" long Wix 51348 3.4" long Wix 51516 4.8" long Here is a picture of the...

Help finding the right replacement belt?

One other comment since your in there already? The upper cogged belt in your picture is the drive belt for the Hydro's. These are problematic and I have gone thru 2 in 350 hours of operation. I have a Raptor SD 54" but I think your belt will be the same? Easy to check too. Mine stock belt was...

You bring up a good point that I tried to find out? What is the Zinc and Phosphorus level in the oil your using? I am a Mobil 1 fan and they make a wide range of products. Do I want a zero-turn mower?

I am not far from your situation as I have 4 acres and way more than a thousand trees. It's a Kioti with a 3 cylinder diesel all hydrostatic and 4 wheel drive which means it's a dream to...
