Have you actually looked at a Raptor SD54 mower? The muffler is not attached to the frame at all? From the parts manual; It bolts to the engine only. . . .

Not sure but on my Raptor SD54 the original belt was cogged and then was updated by Hustler to a regular non-cogged belt. My cogged belt broke. . . .

My Raptor SD54 did the same thing and what has happened is it has not unscrewed. The rod has pulled out of the threaded end. You can purchase just the ends too and I got some with metal threads instead of the crappy plastic units used from the factory. . . .

Just a follow up but the replacement end is working fine with the OEM cylinder. . . .

When faced with things like this I use Evaporust. WAY better than Diesel. But glad to hear you got it working. It was a success and that's what counts. . . .
