Hello from Brechin Ontario, north of Toronto, East of Orillia, near Casino Rama to be specific

I don't check here often but I do enjoy looking around and getting some good ideas to keep my mowers running.
I do have a question regarding Gear Oil - I have a faily new to me 5 foot PTO 3pt hitch mower with an Oil reservoir that contains Gear Oil but when I check the level the other day the Oil is quite "milky" or discoloured - not clear. I have seen that Hydraulic Fluid will do this if water is getting in but I am not sure if it is the same. There is a machine screw on the top that may be letting in oil when it rain so I put thread tape on this.
Any suggestion are appreciated. I think I will change the Oil though, just to be sure.

Thanks for stopping in to say hi ...As for your gear oil to me it sounds like ether water or condensation is getting in there is there a crack in the cap on the res ..I would change the gear oil myself

Three point equipment is a little tough to drain, I put my large decks on edge with my front loader...
You might consider using a good synthetic gear lube ... It seems to tolerate the moisture better that gets pulled in due to heat/cool, expansion/contraction... :smile:KennyV

Thanks for the reply and the tips, as well I saw I good one for undercoating the mower deck, this is a good idea as my Bolens mower deck is getting a little thin.

Wow..is there any way one can post a simple question?? this is my 1st try & when the page opened after I hit reply this page appeared. lokks like you'd have to have a team of nuclear scientests and a bunch of FBI code breakers to figure out how to say "HELLO FROM RURAL OTTAWA SOUTH"
