Re: Compressor repower
220v is actually 2 110v circuits. No positive or negative. So it should not be able to reverse the direction of spin. Now with that phase converter I have no Idea. The building I work at has 3 phase power. I only work with that stuff.
I am not an electrician but I play one at work.:laughing:
The critter had one of these thingys on it http://phase-a-matic.com/StaticDescription.htm
Hopefully it will be that easy.
The starter has provisions for 3 wires...do I just use 2 terminals, or do I wire the ground wire thru the starter?
I'm still fuzzy on where the pressure switch gets inserted into the wiring....
Looks like this is the ticket:

Although, I am not clear on what the "M" on the circle is in the pressure switch circuit.
It appears to me that when the pressure switch closes, L1 and L3 would be shorted together?
I don't think that will work. What am I not seeing?
Any help??
ed. I found a video that even shows the chink starter which I purchased:

Going to be a 40A circuit;gonna use 8ga copper....
A query: I recently ran more amps (and wiring) to the previous system. If I had reversed the 2 hot legs at the breaker, would that
have reversed the direction of rotation?
I am not sure that my compressor was rotating correctly............
What I thought I remembered was not how it should have been.
