We lived in Astor for 10 years, and owned a cabin on the river for 16.

Hee's an opportunity to further my education:

I have finally opened up some space along a wall for my 20 ton hydraulic press.
I would like to bolt it to the floor.
How far from the wall is a reasonable distance to secure it??

What sayeth the collective wisdom of this sage crowd?

I wish you guys could see my "Hydraulic Press", you'd laugh your collective arses off! I built it using perforated steel strut and wood! The base is a flat piece of 2X8 with two doubled-uprights of strut bolted to it and two pieces of 2X6 (on edge) are bolted between them to form the top support. I was going to use a 2-ton hydraulic jack for power, but I had just bought a 20-ton jack for another project (lifting a barn) and I'd built the press to put new seals into my boat trailer wheels, so I used it instead. Obviously, the jack would destroy the entire frame work if pumped enough! Hey it worked! And as I've not needed it since, it lives under one of my benches.. I don't suppose a 50-ton press would fit under your bench.. LOL....

Chuck, thanks for the continuing "Good-Morning" ( the counts ) I DO look fwd to it . ( Uhhh jusst by chance , do you have ANYTHING, to do with the count ?? we're close to 122,00 , we might see ? 150,000 by years end ..???

I didn't know you were a BBQ nut, I gotta send a pic of MY lil WEBER "take-along, bought in 1990 , just cooked ribs on it last Fri. could use a new flame cover but still cooks great ! ...:thumbsup:

I am as baffled about the count as all of us. Wish I knew why a bunch of old guys talking was so interesting. And how to make money off it.
