Re: Today's summation

Quite a day, if I must say so.

Glad to hear Tom and family are safe and sound. We're still waiting to hear if the condo in Rockport we had reserved for the coming winter has survived.. As it is right on the water, we have our doubts.

Bert, Psych - huh? I never met a Psychiatrist that wasn't crazier than a schitt-house-rat! As an aside, I never watch the news, haven't had a newspaper delivered in decades and the only one I read is the "Fisherman's Voice" which is a local for commercial fishermen. I do however enjoy some of the cable TV channels, no 'news' ones though.

Doc, The flag pole looks great! I like all your flags. I wondered if you have ever watched "Sheldon's Fun with Flags"... Amy helps him sometimes..

I got another email from my old shipmate in Conroe, TX and he and his family are alright.

Nothing from the Rockport condo owner yet, she lives in Sugarland and she may be flooded as well..

We're off to Conway, NH this AM, got to meet up with a buddy I served with in the Sub Service..

Adios for now and remember! After you're through playing - Put your toys away! Boo-Boo - You've got the Watch...

Roger

Well that explains 2 things.
Your fairly cheary disposition
You manage to get a lot of stuff done

I have seen it, very funny. I have about 2 dozen different pirate flags, was thinking of building the back section of the garage roof to look like a pirate ship, it's a flat roof, so should be fun

Roger, was watching the news last night, ( Aug. 28 ) Video by news crews shows Sugarland is totally devastated !
You might want to start searching for other accommodations, Personally, I would think, to avoid Texas Gulf-Coast area, I would think there will be overwhelming clean-up /rebuilding "congestion" and infrastructure issues (many bridge and roadway collapses) According to what is being said, and shown on the newscasts, Sorry... Rockport is no-longer !

Still high and dry here. Several friends lost homes and stuff but "stuff" can be replaced. Lives can't. Sadly it seems there have about a dozen lives lost due to the storm in the Houston area. Most of the major highways are flooded, many many secondary roads are flooded and I have heard this storm referred to as a "1000 year storm" one that might occur in a 1000 years. I don't mind being part of history but I wish it was a happier event. Only good thing is it seems the storm is s l o w l y moving east so it looks like Louisiana might get to share our pain and they already have rescue boats working here.

On a sad note it seems that some people have decided that now would be a good time to steal other people's stuff and several have found out what the Texas Castle Law means the hard way. Reports of thugs trying to hi-jack rescue boats have come in which resulted in the stopping of rescue operations in some parts of the area. Over all Texans are banding together to help each other be it through rescue efforts, donations or putting people up for the time being. Prayers and Good Vibes for Texas are always welcomed.

I have not seen gas prices go up but it is a supply and demand situation. Texas has laws again price fixing so that will be cut off quick.
I would be very careful of buying ANY motorized vehicle from Texas for the next few years. There are most likely going to be millions of cars, trucks, motorcycles and lawn equipment that is underwater and will be sold on the secondary market with the buying knowing they are "flood cars" I think the trail mower I bought last year was flooded as it had mud like dirt and rust on the deck and corrosion on the engine. But I got it for a good price and have fixed most of the issues with a good cleaning.

Still high and dry on our hill.
