Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

One months naco money would pay for building a wall but then the sheriff would have to go back to writing traffic tickets to fund his department.
The whole idea of a wall is a joke.
It did not stop the Germans in Berlin
It did not protect the Chinese
It did not protect Celts
Hell it could not even stop rabbits down here.
And it won't stop the Mexicans
Extreme poverty drives extreme measures
Close the border with a wall and all that will happen is the desperately poor will not come across to pick crops and do other menial under paid jobs.
So the only people coming across the border will be real criminals who can afford to pay bribes , fly light aircraft or bring in drugs by the jumbo jet load.
Food prices will just about double
The problem is corperate greed, not Mexican wetbacks and idiot ideas like the "war on drugs" which just like the booze prohibition that created massive crime organizations in the northern states.
The war on drugs created the most powerful and wealthy criminal organizations ever in the history of the planet in the USA to feed the demand for substances from citizens of the USA that the government of the USA says they are not allowed to have.

Troll around the web for a series of 1 hour doccos "how to make money selling drugs" you should find them pirated on EWE tube.
They are a bit old so you could safely multiply the $ values by 10.

At the peak of the "boat people" we had 30,000 people arrive here by boat.
We had 160,000 who arrived by plane on a short term visa and never left.
Of those a least 1/2 would have been either criminals who lied ( & Bribed ) their own government to get a visa then again pay criminal networks to protect them down here..
It costs the Aust government over $ 500,000 for each person they prevent arriving by boat, one of the big ( but never mentioned ) reasons why the budget is in the red.

My mother explained to me one time about the issue. She told me that for the longest time everything worked as it should. We got cheap labor for the picking season. They entered the US and picked crops all accross the country. When picking season was over they all went home to Mexico. Well someone with a bright idea decieded to close the borders. This caused our migrant workers to have to stay in the US. Easy to enter harder to leave. They could still work and send money home but feared getting cought crossing the border. So in all reality WE The People have created this issue with workers and it will not be fixed by building a wall.

Phew,

I gotta catch my breath!!

For the most part, this thread has avoided political and/or religious comment, which is probably best if it is to continue.. Other than that I'm gonna sit on the "No Comment" sidelines with Boo-Boo.

Doc,

What a great tractor show! I love tractor shows! Most of the Fall Fairs up here include a sort of mini tractor show, where local guys and gals can exhibit their tractors and then sometimes join in with the parade.
We've only hit one Fair so far this year, but they run right through September and we'll be going to others.
By the way, a return of over ten times your expenditure would have that fancy birdbath on it's way, if I'd bought it! The water and the birds will just ruin the insides of it anyway..

Bert,

I had intended to PM you about the Submariners' Walk Heritage Trail in Brisbane, but perhaps everyone would like to review it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8TFV05QcLs

Sea Stories from the WWII period of the US Submarine Service is filled with the adventures our guys had while based in Brisbane and how well they were treated by the Australians. My latest copy of the "American Submariner" magazine had a full page article about the memorial and how the local submarine associations raised the money for the project. I would love to be able to come and see it.

Just as a bit of history: Five US Submarines were lost with all hands that sailed out of 'New Farm' Brisbane at the height of the Second World War. They were: USS Amberjack SS-219, with 71 personnel, lost 16, Feb 1943... USS Argonaut SS-166, with 105 personnel, lost 10, Jan 1943... USS Grampus SS-207, with 71 personnel, lost 5, Mar 1943... USS Seawolf SS-197, with 99 personnel, lost 3, Oct 1944... and USS Triton SS-201, with 74 personnel, lost 15 March 1943...

At nearly every Sub-Vets meeting there is a "Tolling of the Bell" for every US Submarine lost since the first US Submarine was commissioned in 1900. All those men are considered to be "Still on Patrol" and will never be forgotten.. Sailor, Rest your oars.

Respectfully,

Sounds about right.
We have a working visa for seasonal workers and usually bring in islanders ( as a bull s##t part of foreign aid ) to pick fruit & cut cane.
Students on working holiday visas can get an extension for 12 months if they go to the bush & work on a farm so backpackers do a lot of fruit picking.
We just had a crash last night with a couple of Germans, a French girl , a Pommie and another nationality rolled their car on a bend.
Not having a land border makes things a bit different.
Some time back we used to have lots of local seasonal workers who followed the crops, worked about 8 months then had a long holiday.
You could make good money but the government changed all of the tax laws so you could not make enough to carry yourself over the following year so the locals went on unemployment benefit instead ( Foot with big bullet hole in it )

On a different note, hope all those in the Gulf States keep their roofs on and their feet dry.

I just get a little irritated when I see an "immigrant" that owns a former 7/11 (or other) convenience store or whatever business they now own , driving a Brand new Lexus or Mercedes , with several kids AND mom covered in "BLING" living in a "gated-community" home, paid by us taxpayers, ... and Veterans and Homeless seniors can't get squat, WHAT HAPPENED to my Social-Security fund, ( the one that WAS supposed be UN-touchable ) I could go on and on, as we see on the TV, BUT I DON"T think this thread ,on this forum is the appropiate place to air our personal POLITICAL views, it will only lead to more negativity, I truly enjoy this forum as a place where I can leave the world's bullschitt behind and help in ways that I can, and to enjoy conversation amongst friends I've met here.

Not on your sweet nelly.
We have been brainwashed into believing no matter what we do to put us , our town, our country or the entire planet in peril, some one will step in and save us from our own stupidity / arrogance / ignorance / greed.
Hollywood is full of "disaster" movies where the hero steps in at the last second and all is well, think of blockbusters like Star Wars for example.
Even in appcolypse movies, one brave person steps in and saves all the idiots from themselves and every one goes on doing exactly what they were doing before.

In South America & Africa we can to a large extent also point the finger at the churches and in particular the Catholic type religions who taught the locals to " turn the other cheek" so be submissive because the Lord would save them either here or in Heaven.
Now this worked wonders when they were governed by a colonial power and stopped a lot of local wars between the invading colonizers and the original masses who have been dispossed, & subjucated.
However it also laid the groundwork for every tin pot violent gangster to rise to power either as a local warlord or as a pretend government .
In Africa, France, Germany, the UK, and to lesser extent the USA have been bending over backward to prevent unification of the entire continent , to keep the locals fighting with each other so we in the west can rape & pillage their resources at massively reduced prices so we can continue in our comfortable lifestyles.
Add to that massive profits created by the USA government forcing the rest of the world to go on an anti - drug campaign post WW II and you have the foundations of the drug cartels and gangster regeimes we see today
This also created the problem we have with radical violent religious fanatics teaching Islamic followers to create their heaven on earth by extreme violence against all the others who teach passive submission thus millions in the middle east just run away and become refugees rather than standing their ground & resisting the agressors.
Refugees outnumber Islamic State "warriors" around 100:1
Switzerland managed to remain neutral for over 200 years of European wars by compulsory military training ensuring everyone knows how to fight , with or without weapons.
Then arming the entire population and following with real democracy and strong social security so no bad laws that reward a few to the cost of many and no one starving in the streets .
Thus it is not "the enemy is coming call the army to save me " it is get the gun out and stand your ground, you save yourself and while you are at it your neighbours as well.
right or wrong, you my friend are wound up tighter than an eight day clock.

So good to hear from ya "James" , hope Bama don't get any of Harvey,... Looks like Tom and a good portion of Texas is taking a really bad thrashing, I've been following the weather and especially around the Houston area where I THINK Tom is located, I don't think we'll hear much from him for awhile, One thing for sure, those folks are going to have one helluva mess to clean-up ! A VERY sad situation .
