Not saying jd makes bad mowers, just saying they are way over priced. Jd thinks a lot of that deer emblem and green paint. I have always suspected they mix gold flake in the paint at the factory lol. Jd understands that people are generally blindly brand loyal and they exploit that by increasing prices on their new equipment. We have mostly jd equipment on our farm. Partly because some of their products, such as cotton pickers, hold up a little better. Mostly it is due to dealer support. We have two options for farm equipment in our area. Jd and case ih. Have at least 8 jd dealers within 40 miles. Have 2 case ih dealers.

Thanks, I live between Murfreesboro and Shelbyville and my farmland is in W. Tn, near Dyersburg. You as well as others have been a great help.

I live in friendship. About 15 minutes from dyersburg. Do you come this way much? There are several dealers in this area.

Nope. Jd isn't the only company that makes quality equipment. Just like any other company some john deere products are even poor quality. I have been around john deere equipment for 30 years on our family farm. Make good equipment, and some bad. To say it is better quality just because it has green paint and a deere emblem on it is fandom just like people get about their ford, Chevy, dodge, etc. I know electric over hydraulic switches seem to be the best thing since peanut butter until they go bad after the warranty has expired and you have to pay for repairs. Will make you wish they had stayed simple. Most of the other mower brands offer the same main components jd does. Engines, hydros, commercial quality deck. The rest is just what people want to pay for paint color, and the different things each company focuses on such as suspension, different deck design, and controls.

I never said JD was the only quality mower and I have stated they make some that I would never consider owning, but you are knocking on the 960R have you owned one or actually used one?
I was lucky enough to demo the other mowers I was interested when I was looking to upgrade from my Z930A, heck even had some units here on my yard and drove the crap out of them.

Am at the farm outside Halls just off hwy 88 on Cook rd. I also own a farm in Dyer Co. on Holly Springs Cemetary Rd. My home is between Murfreesboro and Shelbyville in Middle Tn. If I ever sell it, I intend to move back here.

You might know Billy Spence who was my cousin and who's mother lived on Spence Rd. near Chestnut Bluff. His grandson Guy Spence has remodeled the house and now lives there. Will spence is Billy's son.

I worked the summer after my freshman year in HS, for Roy Cook who had just bought the JD dealership in Halls. I spent the summer putting a 1 row cotton picker on a JD 4010. Sort of dates me.

Have trained this week with Scott Greer who is a great pro trainer and a good friend. I will send you a PM with my cell number should you like to call. I hope I know how to.

Not knocking the 960r just saying it's over priced. And it is. Yes I have driven one. Good mower, but no better quality than many others I tested. Makes no sense to pay that much more for green paint.

Nope just tired of the smartarse comments always flying about JD mowers, I have ridden most and demoed most so I am just sick of everyone saying you are only buying paint.
