Here is my new to me 10323. I want to get back into Lawn Boy mowers and happened upon this site. I picked up this unit about an yesterday for free. It starts on the first pull but did spit some raw fuel out of the exhaust and is hunting a little. I am guessing that I may need some carb adjustment. I have hardly checked much over but I'm looking forward to learning some. I am familiar with chainsaws and had a Lawn Boy years ago. Now that I am a chainsaw fanatic I thought I would get back into a Lawn Boy. I figured a free unit would be good to start with. I see Ebay has some nice looking units but a little pricey. Are there any good places to find nice semi or fully restored units? I am interested in the Lawn Boys with D and F motors and I don't like the self propelled. I am looking forward to contributing to the site
Nice mower you picked up for free. For some silly reason, they didn't come with a fuel shutoff like all the F prior models. So, in time fuel makes its way past the needle & seat, and causes the symptoms you described. It's very common with the Duraforce engines. I'd get a generic in-line fuel valve, take the carb off, clean it, and put a new needle & seat in it. That should take care of the problem.
Check craigslist for mowers. They will have some good ones on there every now and again. Great find on the free mower. Bought my 10323 new in 2006 and have only had to put a new primer bulb on it. very reliable!

Its a '89' model 10525 with rear bagger. I paid $140 for it off craigslist. I think i did good?
It started effortlessly and sounded pretty mean so I said yes.
I came to the forum to get some maintenance/upkeep tips.
Look Forward to talking with everyone
I gave my 1972 model 7021 the Grabber Green treatment yesterday. This old mower still runs great, and would have to be about the best $10 I've spent.
