In this case it was due to the Briggs bankruptcy and them getting out of the pressure washer and portable generator market. And since that division was shutdown it was determined that they were going to limit support of the engines used on those items.

I'm glad to see Briggs only filing bankruptcy and not going completely under. Think about how big of a mess that would've been for repair shops.

All I know for sure is that customers around here are avoiding Briggs engines. Before the bankruptcy I was selling about ten engines per year. And I haven' sold single Briggs since.

It still comes down to financial investors pulling the plug on low volume low profit items.

Most verticals don't much in repairs most times but I did install one horizontal and vertical pump last year (consumer grade). The replacements were cheaper than the rebuild kit for the old pumps.

Were your customers specifically avoiding Briggs or were you pushing a different brand? Most of my customers wouldn't care either way.

No, I agree 100%. Saw a piece on TV about a family that was pro vaccine tonite. Said they let their under 12 year old daughter take this New (testing-phase) covid shot. Kid got gravely ill in a day or so & was hospitalized 9 times, now having heart issues..

You don't hear a word about that stuff.
