Definitely getting bad. I am running into cases where when a part number goes obsolete they remove the part number from the IPL so there isn't even a reference to try to find used or aftermarket or even knockoff parts. Or the other thing is they OEM will remove the model entirely to the point that the model doesn't even show up in an internet search.

I supposed, it doesn't matter to the customer. I've never seen one who loyal to any certain Briggs engine. Most aren't even loyal to a specific brand. Much less a certain engine.

If I remember correctly this engine is question was fitted on a pressure washer and when Briggs left the pressure washer and portable generator market, they stopped supporting those products as well as the engines that were fitted to them.

Or with PD they not telling us when a part is NLA in the price lists. Having to research all over the place just find out the part is NLA.

The pumps probably went out 100 times more than the coils. And if they stopped making the pumps, then they were sent to the scrap yard. That's usually what happens to pressure washers. And with the cost of the pumps, or a rebuild, it's no wonder.

In this case it was due to the Briggs bankruptcy and them getting out of the pressure washer and portable generator market. And since that division was shutdown it was determined that they were going to limit support of the engines used on those items.

All I know for sure is that customers around here are avoiding Briggs engines. Before the bankruptcy I was selling about ten engines per year. And I haven' sold single Briggs since.

It still comes down to financial investors pulling the plug on low volume low profit items.

Most verticals don't much in repairs most times but I did install one horizontal and vertical pump last year (consumer grade). The replacements were cheaper than the rebuild kit for the old pumps.
