Cool! And it can run for 1 hour, which is pretty decent.

Yeah I know the group. And I agree electric ZTR's have a long way to go before they are worthwhile in my eyes, even if I am mowing just my own yard!

First electric rider I saw was in the early to mid 1970s. Was not a zero turn but a decent mower for homeowner use. My Dads best friend owned it. Cannot remember the name. Kennyv would remember I bet.

I saw a good sized tractor that was from the 70's that was electric. It was yellow and was branded as a GE.

The problem they have or that the electric ztr has is its cost against its productivity. The Hustler ZEON was something like $6000 and there wasn't a whole lot of hustler dealers would even stock the things, you could look at some pictures and if you wanted the mower they would order the thing. Cub Cadet already tried the Electric mower thing before and it flopped.

Maybe the OPE business is like the automobile business in order to keep from paying fines you have to try and produce something green. Kind of like meeting emission standards.

Electric Ox motor001.jpg

The Ultimate Non Polluting Series of Electric Tractors for Towing, Mowing and Moving from the Electric Tractor Corporation
"The power is applied to each wheel separately by the speed controller. In a turn, the speed controller will apply less power to the inner wheel. This provides a light steering feel and a smaller turning radius than is possible with a traditional differential. In addition, an electronic differential simulates a differential lock while front wheels are driving straight"

There have been a lot of different company's that have produced these Electric ZTR and Riding mowers. None have never made it and the reason is there not a cost effective way of cutting ones lawn. There just to expensive for what they are and what they will do. Most homeowner's who are going to buy an electric are going to buy cheap and get a push to do their 4 or 5000 sq.ft. lawn, not 4 to 6000 dollars for a ZTR. Thing is and I believe they, the company's use them as a advertisement or sales gimmick to draw to people to there place of business so they end up buying something else.

Yeah I know and that's my point. The Normal Homeowner is only looking at maybe half an acre of land and not even that if you remove the 3000 sq. ft. area of house and garage so to spend that amount of money on an electric ZTR when a good $400 self propelled will do what needs to be done is something they just aren't going to do.

$2,399.99 electric RER; 36-Volt, 85Ah = 3.060 kwh = 3kw [4.1 hp] for 1hour (at -1C and 100% efficiency) or 1kw[1.3hp] for 3h; 10-12h recharge; 450lbs[225kg]; 30'' blades
vs.
$1,499.99; 315.0 Lbs[142.88 kg]; 28"blades; 11.5hp [8.6kw] continuesly, for as much hours as you need

p.s. that's power to the ground, to the blades - mower is not an elevctric car or bike, there is no coasting, sitting in the trafic, gliding, etc - mower does hard work done continuesly, power take-off directly to the blades, 3600 rpm (or continuos, constant torque output at 18500 fpm blade tip speed); - this is all a continuouse work (load) - open cut, 20% for turns and overlaps as industry standard for performance mesurement
