It was raining this afternoon so I cleaned my trimmer (the guard, gear head, and bottom of shaft). It was so dirty! I feel better now that the gear head is clean. Here are some before and after pictures. In the background of a few of the pictures you can see my edger, which is pretty clean, so you can compare my trimmer to that!

Mine gets clean when it gets wet from the rain.

All the loose grass falls off every time I hit a bump in the road.

But do you see all the dirt on the shaft? That took a lot of elbow grease to come off!

It looks good.
Was just giving you a hard time

But know it looks like you don't use it

I'll make sure to get it dirty again! Until the next cleaning...probably over the winter!

I tend to try to wash my equipment every weekend. It feels nice to have brand new looking equipment at the start of the week.

The problem with echo trimmers is the gap between the guard and head catches weird stuff string cotton hair balls take the head off and you'll see what I'm talking about don't think it hurts it but hey why not? Also my echo trimmer gets a lot of gunk inside the muffler shroud around the muffler every now and then when I have a few mins I try to clean that out. Also I pour a few drops of oil into the starter keeps the rope from drying out and keeps the spring lubed and blow out air filter and replace yearly

Yeah I have gotten string stuck in the place you described and it has taken like 10 minutes of cutting and unwinding to get it out. :confused2:
