Echo backpack blower won't turn OFF

As some of you know, I got an Echo PB-770T last summer. It performed flawlessly last fall, but as winter approached it started to not want to turn OFF. At the beginning it was just that it sputtered for a few seconds when you pressed the kill switch and then turned off, but as the weeks...

    Finally some snow?

Let me start this off my saying I am fine if it doesn't snow this whole winter. But hearing talk about this first snow still gets me excited to do some snowblowing. This winter has been extremely weird. It was the warmest December on RECORD, and our first snow didn't come until mid-January! They...

One last way of making money this mowing season

Well now that the mowing season is over, I am enjoying the relaxation. Snow is not in the forecast yet, but it was in the 60's the past 2 days. Weird!! Colder weather is coming the end of this week. But before then, I am going to be getting a bit more money. The municipal leaf trucks have made...

Put everything away for the season (with pictures)

I am officially done for the season. I spent the morning yesterday prepping my mowers for winter, cleaning them, running them out of gas, taking things off my trailer, putting new oil in my snowblower, etc. Now the snowblower is ready for action, although I will be perfectly fine if it doesn't...

    Season is Winding Down

Finished the majority of my lawns' last cut of the year. Have a few jobs that I wasn't able to get done today that I have to do tomorrow, but then my season is over. The rest of tomorrow will be spent winterizing my equipment and rotating the equipment around in the garage.

    HRX217HYA K4 vs K5

Essentially there are no differences. None that matter in my opinion. I have the K3 and the K5, and the only differences I notice are that the red engine cover is a slightly different shape, they went with a black pull rope instead of white, and the exhaust cover differs slightly. I don't know...

    Already thinking about leaf cleanup

A photo showing a small part of my biggest leaf job. Today it had the most leaves so far this fall, and I got the time down to 2.5 hours total. I figured out more efficient patterns now that it's my 3rd week on the property. Also a photo of a leaf job where the municipality doesn't take leaves...

    Season is Winding Down

Looks like the season is coming to an end. Most of my lawns I have on the schedule for this week, and then I am doing them again mid-month, and then one final time after Thanksgiving Day and the end of the month. Of course some lawns I will be done before that, but the majority I continue until...

Ways to hang line trimmers from shop wall

I use these wall racks that are meant to hold shovels, rakes, etc., to hold my string trimmers. I didn't buy this brand of them, but it is the exact same design. I also attached a photo below. They work great! Here is the item: Shop Blue Hawk Metal Flip-Up Tool Holder at Lowes.com My garage:

    Already thinking about leaf cleanup

Yeah that's a good idea. It seems like every day in the fall it's windy, and you have to blow the leaves against the wind, and they blow back at you. It would help to do as you suggested in that case. Here is a before/after photo of a job I did yesterday. Not a lot of leaves, but 99% of the...

    Already thinking about leaf cleanup

Here is one of the few pics I took at the big leaf job. I am learning as I go. What I learned yesterday was blowing all the leaves to the driveway where I can then blow it to the street is a bad decision. (Their whole front yard has a little cliff at the front so you can't just blow it to the...

Didn't get any before pics of the part with heavy leaf coverage, but here is a before/after photo of the area that had some leaves on it (not a lot). This is the only flat part of the lawn, and one of the only places with grass. Also a photo of the leaf pile, with my blower in the...

New for 2015: New Toro Snowblowers

I though this was pretty cool. A new line of snowblowers by Toro....called the SnowMaster. Priced in between their single stage machines and traditional 2 stage machines. A neat thing is that it uses the Personal Pace self propel system. The augers are similar to that of a single stage...

    Already thinking about leaf cleanup

Just wanted to post an update. I've had the blower for near a month, and have been using it more and more. Fall cleanups are just a few weeks away, but I have been using it for mowing a decent amount. The lawns right now are having a second growth spurt, and some are growing as fast as they did...

Residential snow ( when to market )

I do 100% residential, but not a lot. I don't like snow or cold honestly, but it's just a way to get me through the winter. The first snow is fun, then it gets old. I usually only do around 10 driveways per storm. It's a nice amount to handle. Snow is different than lawns in that people want it...

    How has everyone's season been?

Now that a lot of us will be transitioning into leaf cleanups within a month or so, I was wondering how everyone's season has been. Mine has been great. Non stop busy, and the lack of rain we had at the end of summer has finally ended and we got over 6 inches in the past 2 days. During the dry...

    Already thinking about leaf cleanup

Just wanted to give you all an update. Today I went to my local dealer and picked up the PB-770T. There were just a few things that made me lean towards this over the BR 600. Some of these include the fact it is 2 cycle, which is virtually maintenance free. Even though you (Ric) said you never...

I know the summer is only halfway over, but I am already thinking about fall and leaf cleanups. This year I am really going to market this service. Straight or curved trimmer shaft/

Personally I think the guard doesn't really get in the way (for me), and the chance of getting a rock shot in your eye makes me always keep it on. Maybe I don't mind the Echo guards because they are not as wide as the Stihls. Skinny enough to not be a pain, but still there to protect your face...

    Need a new mower

I found some photos of 2013 leaf cleanups with my HRX that I'll post below. My HRX does good unless the leaves are like sticking to the ground (it's hard to explain, but some leaves are hard to get up). So I would say it's a decent bagger. But those gum balls would be a pain to pick up.

Honda HRR2163TDA Mower; still great after all these years...

Welcome to the forum! I also have an HRR216TDA. I bought mine in 2006. Now I have 2 other Honda mowers I use commercially (both HRX217HYA's), but the HRR still gets used for my own lawn. Mine has been reliable as well. I replaced the wheels last year, because they had gotten so bad they had...

Keep in mind the direction you are looking at the stripes makes a big difference in how visible they are. When the sun is up, it should be at your back for best viewing. Below are 2 photos of the same lawn...one when the sun is in front of me, one when it is behind me so you can see the...

Has Anybody built a folding deck for a commercial walk behind?

It seems like it wouldn't be easy, but that would be a good idea. That way you can use the same width mower for the whole yard, just "shrink it" so it can get through the gates.
