Three inches is the normal cutting height for St. Augustine. Most any riding mower can be set to cut at three inches.

That might be true. However, that’s what went in every tire of the tractors that pulled our county roadside mowers (15’ flex wing and 7’ rotary mowers). Tractor tires are more expensive than the fill.

Cutting tall wet grass contributes to plugging. I doubt that mulching blades will give you any benefit. It may make the problem worse.

You can get a Bad Boy Rebel 61” for the same money as a Scag Patriot. The Rebel comes with a Kawasaki FX850V engine and Hydro Gear ZT4400 transmissions. The Rebel is way more mower than the Scag. It’s heavier and is built stouter. This is a true commercial mower. WC Tractor in Brenham, TX

The blades with two holes besides the center mounting point can be used for 21” or 22” push mowers. They are designed to fit on the blade adapter.

Toro Gravely Exmark Bad Boy Look for something with ZT 3400 minimum and 25hp. I cut 3 acres weekly and have a Gravely Pro Turn 260 with a 25hp Kohler and ZT 5400s. You would be best served with a 60” entry level commercial mower or better.

Have you looked at the wiring? Any chaffed wires? A sticking safety switch? Have you checked the air gap on the PTO clutch?

Never assume such things. I have yet to own a mower that was properly prepped before my taking delivery.

That should have been the second thing done before cutting. The first thing would have been to check the oil level.

Have you even checked to see if the deck was leveled as the operators manual describes? The cutting height selector will not necessarily match the actual cutting height.

Some Snapper mowers use the same deck shell. It may be worth looking into.

The mulching kit will kick up more dust. Check and see if the deck is leveled according to the manual.

You might not have to go completely vertical with your zero turn. The hoist would certainly lift it higher than a floor jack or mower jack.

Blades: Rotary #12380 If your deck is properly leveled, you don’t need a striping kit.

I would imagine that the mower hit something pretty hard at some point. I would be looking at the left spindle and it’s mounting surface on the deck. Check all of them. But, the left side is where I would start looking.

Do the blades touch each other? Does the left blade touch the middle blade? Does the right blade touch the middle blade? If both outside blades touch the middle blade, the blades are too long. If one side touches the middle blade, the deck may be bent. The blades are supposed to be 20.5” long...

Do you have access to Rhino Ramps or equivalent? If so, you can use them up front. Drive up the ramps and spin them and the front casters 180 degrees. Now, jack up the rear and place jack stands. Now, remove the rear wheels.

Check the switch on the parking brake. Exmark and Toro use the cheapest switches that you can imagine on their residential mowers.
