    Riding Mowers With Manual Transmissions

Possibly the closest we could get is one with the variable 7 speed shift like MTD made and it seems like maybe Troybuilt adopted that system or maybe MTD built Troybuilt . Or i have a barn find Murray from back in the 80's that two 20's will buy .

How Do I Control Weeds in My Yard?

If your lawn is a cultivar that goes dormant in winter months , round-up the lawn for any early spring weeds before the dormancy fades into the sunset . After the lawn greens there are several products on the market for those applications .

    Oil Leak From Drain Valve

Buy a Viton O ring . If the manufacturer didn't chamfer the edge of the hole in the pan to prevent damage when the O ring is inserted , at least knock the sharp edge off with a half round file and / or emery tape .

    Blade bolts to tight

You people are causing yourselves a wagon full of un-necessary problems with those impacts . Oil the threads , tighten the nuts with a box wrench about 12" long until they feel tight and go mow . Those manufacturers are specifying those ridiculous torque values because of liability .

    D100 (maintenance and repairs)

The only reason the axle needs grease is to prevent rust . Your mower has never had the rack and pinion gears teeth greased and the pinion gear bearing has never been oiled . Your manual will never mention that . John Deere would rather you bring it to them for that repair for 3-4 hundred bucks .

    Piston Ring Installation

So I'm thinking about a mower lift

This is how poor people lift a lawn tractor . They use the engine power of the 2 pieces of equipment involved . A truck tail gate and a pair of saw horses will do it . If I need parts, just roll it back into the truck and take it along . If there is a question on what parts needed i have...

Murrays were prone to brake sticking . I put a bug in a cousin's ear about a Murray garden tractor he was wanting to bid on at auction. It had to be dragged from a shed to sell and the quick verbal diagnosis was " the transmission is locked up " . A lawn tractor that would normally sell for...

    best inner tube for 18 x 7.50 - 8

Carlisle usually has about as good of products as anyone else. A leak on the side of the tire is usually suspect of a tire cut and will pinch a tube by tire flex until it fails no matter the brand. Examine it carefully inside because it may need a Boot.

John Deere X300 PTO Bearing Replacement and installation

Mower ran but the blades seemed to stop turning. They ran intermittent for 10-15 seconds..

Apologies for failing to see this when reading your initial post. In the future and for others, this battery was 5 years old and that should have been my clue. Step 1 would be take the battery to a automotive retailer and have it -- LOAD TESTED -- if you don't have the means to do so. I had...
