I had to add a heat shield under the muffler on my Raptor SD 54". Otherwise it left brown marks in the grass where the heat cooked it. Heat shield fixed it 100%. Hustler # 120564 - Muffler Shield Kit. About $35 from Hustler. . . .

Yes you need to install the proper brackets to keep the Hydro's in alignment. I am still on the original belts at 310 hours. Zero problems. They really make a difference!

Does your Raptor have the proper undated Hydro braces installed? Sounds like it does not since your throwing the belt? These need to be installed on any Raptor and check the bolts to make sure they are tight too. Braces have cracked and bolts have fallen out before. . . .

Yes I avoid spraying water on ANY of my machines anymore if possible. Tractor, mower get blown off with compressed air. Learned this from the Harley guys as any water left in the cracks will cause future rusting problems. They usually blow off their bikes after washing them. . . .

Maybe junk but I had a similar problem. Changed the fuel pump not it. Took all the fuel hoses off and reinstalled them. Fixed the problem. Appears the fuel system was sucking air at one of the connections. An air leak into the fuel system will give you a surging problem. . . .

Go to Hydrogear. They can give you a manual for your hydro's and the proper instructions. Yes rebuild yours instead of replacing them. It's only leaking fluid so the Hydro is still good. It's not dangerous at all. Get the Hydrogear part number. It should be on the hydro itself if the tag is...
