I am working on a Zero Turn Model 5900709. According to my parts reference the OEM filter part number is 5101026X1. I checked with Fram for their cross over part number. They advised they have no filter that matches Snappers requirement. Anyone out there with some advice and help? Thanks...

That's generally what I have done. I grew up with either Permatex No.1 or No. 2. For valve cover gaskets I usually just used a silicone sealant on the valve cover side...let it sit overnight so the gasket dries to the sealant. Thanks for the reply.

No, but I'm not sure that will get all the liquid, water in some cases, out of the tank. Laziness creaps in when I think about removing the tank:):)

For these tanks on most zero the suction really needs to be flexible enough to reach back to the lower areas of the tanks.

What are good methods/or pumps for emptying fuel tanks? I have used siphoning with som success but are there manual pumps for this tasks? The plastic siphoning assist bellows pumps only last a few times. Appreciate the advice in advance.

I think it is very likely people rebuild these engines prematurely. Unless the exhaust smoke gets so excessive it becomes a health and enviornmental issue run the engine until poor clyinder pressure affects its performance. Installing oil is a pretty cheap thing compared to boring liners and...

I just restored a Murray 30", Model 30544x92D, and had an issue with the drive belt, newly installed, coming off. Anyone seen this issue before me? The drive pulley and driven pulley both appear to be in good shape, and the belt tensioning idler, flat, spins freely and the bearings are tight...

I am beginning to rebuild/restore an old Murray 30" rear engine mower with a Dana 4450-1 transmission. Does anyone have a parts or maintenance manual for the transmission that would be will to share with me?

Actually I replaced a worn belt with a new non-OEM belt that was too short. I ordered an Amazon generic belt. Rivets suggested that an OEM belt would fix it and it sure did. The OEM belt was just a tad bit longer allowing the tensioning system to operate correctly.

Rivets, thanks for your help and advice. I installed the OEM belt and whatda know....works great!! Before I installed the OEM belt I compared it to the Chinese knowoff....it is 3/4" longer...enough to make a difference. Learned my lesson, just cost me $15.

Thanks...I ordered an OEM belt. The aftermarket belt looks to be deeper in cross section. I'll post how this misadventure turns out.

Re: belt. It's not an OEM belt. I may have gotten snake bit on that. I did check the length but nothing else. I'll check the travel again just to be sure.

Yes the brakes are adjusted and stops the mower. It is difficult to shift from forward or reverse to neutral. From neutral to either direction, with pedal mashed down, the driven pulley, on the transmission, does not slow down, or stop....making it hard to shift out of neutral to any gear.

I have rebuilt the mower, new: drive belt, drive belt idlers(2), driving and driven pulleys. The mower is hard to shift in and out of speeds. When the pedal is depressed, and lock into parking, the drive belt system continues to rotate, making shifting hard and will probably eventually hurt...
