Which to chose (zero turn)? Ariens, Bad Boy, Gravely, Husqvarna, John Deere, Scags, Walker, Woods, orther?

They are all good but dealer service is more important than brand. Are the people friendly and knowledgeable? Do they have a neat wwell equipped service area and a well stocked parts room? Or would you wait two days while they order a belt or oil filter? As far as engines go, the one in your...

LT1500 Mower--New Carburetor- Surging at Full Throttle

Hold your finger on the throttle, if it smooths out the governor is set incorrectly. If it stumbles and dies it is not getting enough fuel. It may be over revving which will starve it for fuel.

    Briggs Alternator wiring?

Does the red wire end in a bullet connector? If so it should have the diode. Maybe it has been cut off, you then need to add the diode which is available at an electronics supplier. The other option is replacing the alternator which gets expensive. Give us the engine numbers so we can see what...

Knocking Sound - am I in the market for a new mower?

You may have broken the blade adapter and taken out the flywheel key. Take the blade off and try rocking the shaft with a pair of vise grips, if it still clunks get the credit card out.

Replacement Carburetor for a bolens 13an683g163.

The OEM replacement is p/n 594593. They are not cheap but I don't have a lot of confidence in cheap aftermarket carbs.

Replacement Carburetor for a bolens 13an683g163.

What are the numbers on the engine? We don't want family numbers, they are meaningless to us. Will it fire with a spritz of gas in the carb throat?

Changing Oil on Bolens Push Mower

Easiest way is tipping the mower on its side to drain the oil, sharpen the blade and clean the deck while you are at it. A pump won't get all of the crud. 30W API SE or higher works well in an air cooled engine working hard in a very dirty environment, 10W30 is acceptable if that is what is...

Tecumseh BVS 143 (Mountfield Empress) - Won't start, oily spark plug, stiff jerking pull

Have you checked the oil level? It may be contaminated with gas which points to a carburetor problem. Was the plug wet when you removed it?
  13. R

tecumseh hh60 leaking oil around governor shaft

A little oil weeping around the governor shaft is normal, a lot suggests a plugged breather or excessive blowby due to worn rings, valves etc. Sharpening the tines will be a challenge, they will be high quality spring steel.

I would not take the chance, you could be in deep doo doo if it fails.

    What's your experience with Kubota?

I used a BX2670 for three seasons until I was forced to move. It was a very well built machine and easy to operate. The loader was good for moving snow but not so much for landscaping, the machine didn't have the power or weight needed to pick up sand or soil. Too small for the job. Local dealer...

    Snapper 28” rear engine

I replaced a couple of blown 9hp on Snapper 28" mowers with 12s, those things would slay thick couch grass over a septic field. Are you trying to cut thick, damp grass? You need to mow frequently to successfully mulch, only take off the top third of the blade.

Gas straight into chamber...it starts & runs but then.......

Those are the reed valves, if they fail it won't run at all. The diapragm if it has one, I believe it does, is in the carburetor itself.

Gas straight into chamber...it starts & runs but then.......

You know it has compression and spark, only thing left is carburetor. What engine? If it has the English Tecumseh good luck finding a diaphragm kit for the Dellorto carb.

    Briggs 4hp 187cc model 112292 0707 -- rebuild, need advice!

The next seies of numbers gives the manufacturing date. For instance 730407 would indicate 1973, fourth month, seventh day. You won't find off the shelf hot rod parts for it. Briggs does or at least did build racing engines but they are only sold through specialized dealers affiliated with...

    Need some help w/Briggs engine...

104M02-022 is a good number. The inlet needle is not seating probably contaminated. Clean it and the tank, if that doesn't solve the problem replace the carburetor. They are not worth spending time on.

    A better brand than Briggs?

There are millions of Briggs engines out there that have given years of trouble free service. Certain series have given their fare share of grief but no reason to condemn the entire line. Other brands have their share too.
