Well I have been to alot of dealers
Exmark--Quest S 42"

Toro-Mx 4260
Titan ZX4820

Gravely- ZTXL 42
ZT42

Leaning towards the Toro and Gravely(at the same dealer) and get a good vib from him.

Exmark dealer is kind of snotty and bad mouthed the Quest--guess not enough profit for him..

So my search may be complete.

What do you think of these choices?

Finally registered, but have been a long time silent reader. I have been searching for a ZT for my 1 acre lot since the end of last year. I am down to exactly the same mowers. There are 2 dealers about the same distance from me that have the same models.

Dealer 1 - Toro and Exmark
Dealer 2 - John Deere and Gravely

I'm not a huge fan of the Briggs Stratton motors so the John Deere is at the way bottom of the short list.

I'm leaning heavily towards the Gravely ZT XL 42. Reasons being:
-Holds more fuel than the others (3.8 gallons)
-Has the ZT2800 hydros (not present on 42" Exmark Quest S *only 50" has ZT2800* or Toro MX4260)

What I'd like to better understand is price. I never pay sticker price for a car, does one pay sticker for a mower or is there some ability to negotiate?

Hey smow

Around here it seems dealers will not budge off MLSP--I tried only thing to do is wait for a sale or close out maybe-

I want a Kawasaki engine and also a ZT2800 trans.

Seeing that the Toro and Exmark are made by the same company, with the ones you have listed my choice would be the Titan ZX 4820. I think the Toro is one of the best on the market and it's the best bang for the money your spending. and probably a little cheaper than the Exmark. I run the Toro Grandstand and the Turf-Master and there fantastic mowers.

For once I agree with Ric, Toro Titan would be your best selection. As for price, comparing Z-turn pricing to cars, is like comparing apples and lemons. 1. Profit margins are vastly different. 2. Most good small engine businesses are family owned which limits flexibility. 3. You will get personalized customer service included at the good ones. 4. You are supporting Americas and your communities small businesses, which is always a plus. 5. You can always ask, but don't let price make the final decision. 6. Better to ask for a first time service, where you pay for the parts and he pays for the labor. You both win on this deal and he can do a full inspection of the unit while it is still under warranty. Keeps you coming back in the future if you are happy.

I know of only one in this area that's being used commercially and it's cut isn't anything to brag about. I personally wouldn't waste the time.

Just look at the deck material, that should answer your question.
