How do you think the Toro Titan compares to the Gravely HD series? Looks like the HD is similar to the Titan MX series. Do the Titan decks hang on chains like the Gravely HD. The floating/hanging system appears to be on many commercial mowers.

Just from the looks it seems like the Toro is "more commercial" than the Gravely HD. I agree with your second sentence. And I don't think the Titans have chains that hold the deck. :frown: They have this:

Gravely ZT HD Zero Turn Mower

The ZT Hd 48" $4899 has Zt3100 trans , compares to Toro ZX4820 $4599 has Zt2800

these are the ones I`m thinking about , also like the Gravely ZTXL 42" $3999 with ZT 2800 trans

Yes, I'm down to the same 2. I will go take one last look in person. Last item that I want to check is deck offset or overhang. I want to reduce the amount of trimming I do after mowing. I 'm not sure how far beyond the wheel the deck overhangs on the left side on both mfg mowers.

You will find that the Toro Titan MX series and the Gravely ZT HD series are very comparable machines. The chain-hung deck, double-braced anti-scalp wheels, cast-iron spindles, beefy deck lift system and 1-Year Commercial Warranty are the only Gravely features that are slightly better than the Toro. Both will serve you well.

What is the advantage of a chain hung deck--does it sort of float better as the scalp wheels glide over the grass?

To be quite honest....I don't know:0)
I didn't get a lot out of the thread that user lawn mower fanatic provided(sorry lmf) but all I know is that when I was shopping for a ZTR, the upper priced Residential models and all of the Commercial models I looked at all had chain-hung decks. The catalog for the Gravely's, when describing the advantages of the ZT HD series stated "4 point commercial style deck hanging system" when describing the chain hung deck. And it elaborated that this "provided the durability you would expect on a professional machine". Maybe someone more "knowledgeable" about different deck hanging systems can tell us more about the pros/cons of each style.
