From where I sit just about all US elections seemed very much rigged as both sides do their best to make it difficult for the opposition supporters to vote.
We have compulsory voting down here and have had so from day one of federating the individual states + an electorial commission that pretends to be independent of the government to set electorate boundries , run the elections & maintain the voters roll .
The commission is of course appointed by the government of the day so does suffer the same appointment bias as your High Court does but by and large they do a reasonable job of keeping the elections fair .
