Am I the only person that started in the repair business here. Everyone sure seems to know a lot about it for no one to start in it??? I would like to hear from someone on that side of the equipment.

I started repairing small engines when I was 19 years old. Only training I had was a semister course in HS.

Just what did you start with as far as tools and equipment. I know I started with the tools that were on my fathers farm. Then the first tools of my own were called Wizard from Western Auto. I think Western Auto is no more ?

I started with Craftsman socket set that had 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2in drive ratchets with short and deep well sockets. Plus some Briggs and Stratton tools such as the flywheel holder, starter clutch removal, both piston ring compressors, feeler gauge, spark plug/ignition tester, and compression tester. Same year tackled my first 2 cycle lawnboy Fseries mower. Bought the D & F series shop, lawnboy air gap gauge, and piston ring compressor for F series engine.

As far as equipment goes I started just working on pushmowers.

Being brought up on a farm as a boy we were always having something to fix. My farther and brother were a good teachers. Then I would always have a old car or truck to run around on the farm with. Then my older brother that was into hot rods, drag racing, and boats. I have been turning wrenches as far back as I can remember.
