When I first started to get into mowing as a hobby/job, I had a 2006 Honda HRR216TDA mower, and a 1986 Echo GT-2100 curved-shaft trimmer. That's it.

Now I have, along with those items, a 2012 Honda HRX217HYA mower, a 2012 Echo SRM-255 trimmer, a 2012 Echo PB-255LN hanadheld blower, a 2012 Echo PE-225 edger, a 2011 Craftsman 2-stage snowblower, and a 4x6 utility trailer.

I started with a cheap set of tools I bought from Western Auto working on appliances. I still have only one wrench yet, seeing the business burned down and I lost all of them.

I bought a 11 year old 1963 Bolens 800 in 1974 for $100.00 it came with a front mount Bolens snow blower.

Had the old Wisconsin cast iron 8 hp. engine (I'm not sure how the hp. ratings worked then and now but you would have to have at least 16 of todays hp. to come close to that Wisconsin)

It did take most of a quarter section to turn around but it was built for a lifetime. Still have it, don't use it much anymore but its nice to look at.

Am I the only person that started in the repair business here. Everyone sure seems to know a lot about it for no one to start in it??? I would like to hear from someone on that side of the equipment.

Just what did you start with as far as tools and equipment. I know I started with the tools that were on my fathers farm. Then the first tools of my own were called Wizard from Western Auto. I think Western Auto is no more ?

I started with Craftsman socket set that had 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2in drive ratchets with short and deep well sockets. Plus some Briggs and Stratton tools such as the flywheel holder, starter clutch removal, both piston ring compressors, feeler gauge, spark plug/ignition tester, and compression tester. Same year tackled my first 2 cycle lawnboy Fseries mower. Bought the D & F series shop, lawnboy air gap gauge, and piston ring compressor for F series engine.

As far as equipment goes I started just working on pushmowers.

Being brought up on a farm as a boy we were always having something to fix. My farther and brother were a good teachers. Then I would always have a old car or truck to run around on the farm with. Then my older brother that was into hot rods, drag racing, and boats. I have been turning wrenches as far back as I can remember.
