Look at the muffler. If it has a 12mm nut with a hole for the exhaust to escape, remove the nut. Attached inside the nut is a screen which gets clogged from time to time from using outdated (paraffin based) 2-cycle oil. Either clean the screen or pinch it off with a pliers and discard. Reinstall nut and enjoy your blower. And only use Stihl ultra synthetic oil to prevent future problems.

Why buy Echo synthetic blend when you can get a full synthetic with the Stihl Ultra for basically the same price.

Hello everyone, my name is Pete. I found myself looking for info about things I've never dealt with before, mainly chainsaws. It started after I inherited 4 Stihl saws from my later father-in-law. The problem is, I have no idea about the condition of any of them. I know at least one works because he needed to cut wood for his woodstove. He was a duct tape/bailing wire kinda guy, so some of them look like they need a little help.

What I'd like to do is go through each one, clean, inspect and repair. I'm hoping that someone here has an idea on the best place to get a service manual and parts.

Have you tried loading some pdf files online for your manuals? Youshold be able to get your parts from any Stihl dealer.

Hd sells echo which is usually where I get most my oil, air filters, spark plugs, trimmer line. The Wal-Mart's Here sell mtd plus I won't go to Wal-Mart

Greetings,my name is Ken I came across this site and am looking for some help on my Stihl 74 weed whacker, it's about 18 years old and still runs great, the only problem I have is with the fuel tank,it has developed several cracks,I have contacted several Stihl dealers and they all give me the same answer,obsolete discontinued and no longer available, if anyone knows of a good used for sale I would love to buy a good one, however I'm sure they used this engine on many different models, if anyone knows of a different fan shroud fuel tank combo I could switch to your Info would be most helpful...........thanks,waiting to hear
