I have a 7h.p ohv briggs and it wants to die after about 8-10 min.i tried pushing the primmer button but that floods it.is this a coil problem?

I would check the valve clearances first.

Also in the case of such a condition with an air cooled engine, there's always the possibility of piston/cylinder siezure. When it dies is the engine easy to turn? If it is not easy to turn when warmed up, you might have a siezure issue.

You say there is fuel so it can't be fuel starvation, could be the valves has already posted, it is very hot in that 8-10 minutes..? if so then check for good spark the next time it die's out.

You didn't post the engine numbers so you can check yourself with the chart.

its not getting hot.this engine is somewhat new.

As soon as it shuts off pull out the spark plug and check for spark

It really works. Put the coil in the oven and cook it for a couple hours.
