I will soon be looking for an edger, and I don't know which would be better for my purpose, a walk-behind edger or a stick edger. I am thinking that a stick edger would be better since it is cheaper and also if I want to go to a close house I can push my mower and hold my edger. With a walk-behind edger that would be hard. But with a walk-behind edger it might be more stable and create a more crisp edge?

Stick edger. Highly portable and once you get comfortable with it you can make some really nice edges.

I have never used a stick edger but i think that might be better for you(more portable). I have used a walkbehind edger and those are good too. The only thing i dont like is doing a circle because the front wheel does not turn on mine.

A walkbehind is good for a first time edge on a overgrown yard.

Good job! It's really not all that difficult once you learn how to control the machine.
