Ayup, it's Sundey..
Morning all,
Boo,
(This is a PM to Boo, so nobody else is supposed to read it) - I take it this newbie you mentioned isn't posting on this thread. Sorry, I'm too lazy to go hunting for 'it'.
All Hands:
I ain't got no pictures of nekked ladies but I got a problem. A buddy of mine made us a Delrin pulley shive for our electric lobster trap hauler. (We call it a "pot" hauler, but I didn't want to give anybody the wrong idea.) Originally the hauler only had a single pulley shive in front of the main drive pulley and we had to hold the rope down low behind that drive pulley in order for it to grip the rope properly. I had a brainstorm (from watching the haulers on the "Deadliest Catch" TV show) and realized hat we needed another pulley shive down low, in back of the drive pulley, so I made a bracket and an oversized washer for a retainer and Bill ordered a stainless steel pulley shive (3" dia, X 1-1/4" wide) off the Internet. It came from China, gen-u-wine Chinese stainless, which isn't stainless at all! What's worse is, the bearings were plain carbon steel. Needless to say, being washed everyday in salt water has been the demise of the bearings. So, the new high density pulley shive arrived and I installed it and then realized that I should have spec'd a stainless sleeve as the axel support, cut slightly longer than the shive is wide, so the shive is free and it's faces aren't touching ether the bracket or the washer. So, where can I find stainless steel tubing with a 1/2" i.d.?
The first pic shows the original rig with the bracket and washer I made. The second pic shows the Delrin shive sandwiched between the bracket and the rope retaining washer.
