I use top quality batteries, (Duracell & Energizer) and I managed to lose 2 or 3 flashlights to battery leakage ..
Boo,
We have a company up here that rebuilds "Tower Clocks" all over the world. They have also built their own tower clock mechanism, one of which resides in a glass enclosed room just inside the door at LL Beans. Anyway, my company did some lighting work for them as well as electrical work at their workplace and my brother-in-law worked for them for a while. Also I went to High School with the wife of the owner.. I tell you all that to establish the relationship that existed..
The owner told me one day to never, ever use Duracell batteries, they are the ones that leak and destroy flashlights. Of course we had flashlights on all our trucks and often had to replace them from corrosion caused by battery leakage.. From then on I watched very carefully and the guy was right! Every single flashlight or other battery powered device I found destroyed, had Duracell batteries in them. Not Energizer batteries.. (Becky says the 'bunny' would never let you down.) Anyway, I have not bought any Duracell batteries for years and I've never had a battery leak on me since! I also do use Rayovac batteries and have never had any issues with them either.
Check it out and see what you find...
