I would have thought any person could tell the difference between a leg and a foot.
Not a single one of those girls have legs any longer than average.
Take the ladders off their feet and they all have standard leg to body length ratios, for a female model of 1:1 to 1.2:1
Also note the wide arch girlie is again leaning into the camera and standing pidgeon toed to make the pubic arch appear wider than it really is by stretching the thigh muscles around the leg.
When the "young & hopeful" came into the model agency they were told to strip naked and stand against a grid background, flat footed.
This got rid of about 75% of the women and 99% of the men. Guys are so shy unless "hung like a horse"
No room for body modesty if you want to be a model, as you will spend a lot of time naked, or near naked in a room full of people , most of which you have never seen before.
Even worse on an advertising set as every pervert from the ad agency found some excuse to turn up and drool ( yes I have seen them with their tongues hanging out & eyes glazing over )
The potentials were then photographed front back left right and measured up.
From the ones who measure "right" then they get a full on close up facial shoot to check head & face measurements.
Funny enough it all comes down to triangles and the 3-4-5 ratio that is most appealing to the WESTERN MALE EYE.
Thus the girls usually got called pp's ( Pythagorean Princesses ).
After that it was off to the dentist to have the teeth ground down and capped because even then a "horses mouth" of teeth was prefferred to a normal human mouth with K9's & teeth of varying widths.
Believe it or not the bit that got most photoshopping was the teeth, apparently no model eats meat.
Then it comes down to photographic tricks.
Kylie Minogue is very short so she was only photographed by Grant Mathews who himself is also quite short to make her look taller, till she got well known enough to have editorial rights over her published photo spreads.
Look at images of her and compare them to paintings of Napoleon Boneapart all done with perspective tricks to make them look taller.
Elle McPherson was exactly the opposite, she was "too tall" to be a model but she had an auntie ( Marie VanDramme) who ran a photographer/stylist agency so she got her into a lot of castings.
Elle was only ever photographed by Greaham Shearer who at 6'4" is a tad taller than the average male so he shot her to make her look shorter till like Kylie she became well known enough to exercise editorial rights.
When we first started working for the agencies it used to fascinate me how easily the eye was fooled as the printed images looked nothing like the real life views in the studios.
And like a lot of things, the longer we were in the business the more you learn about it . And the more you know the sicker & more perverted the who thing became
