Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

Horizontal pin. Back wrench is holding the spring keeper flat. Couldn't get enough leverage with the combo wrench, impact wrench don't do squat on nylok nuts and don't have 1/2 drive extensions. Doing the best with what I have. Be nice if I could find my larger pipe/wrench extender. Might take all week but I'll get it eventually, lol.

Edit, 1/2 drive not 3/4.

Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

if you removed the lift cylinder the tower will fold down enough to allow you to get an impact gun on the bolts, also they are not supposed to be nylon lock, correct hardware is double nut with lock washer between the nuts

Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

Thanks Doc. All the hardware is original. Maybe they changed it after the first year of production?

All hardware I need to loosen/remove is all set. Plow is back on the truck and in scoop mode. Taking a break for a late lunch before I attempt driving the broken pin out and replacing. Here's your pics Boo.

Edit: Back down to the garage. I'm right off I-95 is you wanna run up to CT and help Doc, lol.

Frucka Ruckin piece of crap plow! Can't get things lined up to get the new pin in. A proper drift pin would be helpful. You almost to CT yet Doc?

I always used a broken or worn pin as a locator......just cut the threaded section off and with a grinder put a 30° champer on the end about a 1/2 deep. Place the worn pin in about an inch and half then start driving the new pin in from the other side
