I read the post about a sluggish deck on a JD 1620 mower and was curious what it was, so I did a search. I think Mutton Power Equipment needs to customize their recommended maintenance for different mowers... "The 1620 Front Mount Mower was produced with standard features including a four cylinder 51 HP Yanmar diesel engine, 7 qt engine oil capacity, hydrostatic transmission, and a 131" total cutting width. Regular Maintenance should be performed on the 1620 every 50 hours and should include Spark Plug, Air Filter, Oil Filter, and to sharpen or replace mower blades.

Should I call and ask for a set of spark plugs for it?

Hell yes, you might get some GLOW plugs !
