Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild
Mornin' y'all.
I'm out hangin' garage doors.
What fun!
It would be easy if it was not for the fact that I am cutting an 8' high door down to fit a 7' opening.
Typical me.
I have been planning on cutting the top panel down to fit the overall height, but not sure if that will work.
Top panel would be about 7" or so (current layout is 5 panels 19.065" high each,) and I am not certain that the rollers will track properly especially
using an electric opener.
I could cut down the bottom panel, but then I have to deal with the weather seal at the bottom.
I have not yet discerned how that strip attaches to the bottom of the door.
I think i'm gonna get a 1x8 and see how it will work at the top.
What I really need is a 9" length of 2x1x1/8" aluminum channel.
the garage door manufacturer said that the torsion spring will have to be changed, as the door will be lighter.
Hmm. The tin used for these things is so light (28ga. maybe? ) that I will be surprised if removing 12" of it along with the same
amount of 3 brackets (14ga maybe) will amount to 2#.
I don't think the spring will know the difference.
I will just put fewer preload turns on it, mostly to adjust for the shorter travel.
As always, we will see...........
Any suggestions?? (Appropriate to this topic,Boo!!)
