Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild
Well Ronno,
If you have suddenly had an influx of moles, something has caused that.
And the best way to address it is find out what that is.
Moles are something I know absolutely nothing about but fixing "problem " wildlife is some thing I have been doing for decades.
There are lots of companies who make a fortune from trapping & removing possums from peoples ceiling cavities.
Almost the same day the old ones get moved, new ones move in.
Possums are territorial so the solution is to build something that they would preffer to live in near your house and leave them alone.
But the "pest Controllers" endlessly flog their services , advertising all sorts of non existent circumstances of living near possums and grossly exagerating any real problems they really do trigger.
When I lived on the afore mentioned North Shore we ended up building 3 nest boxes for Bush Tailed Possums and 2 for Ring Tailed Possums which were attached under the eaves, problem solved.
Well sort of, they still held barn dances wearing hob nailed boots on the roof ( that is what it sounds like ) and current mates still see off randy competitors in a quite noisy fashion, but they don't take up residence in the ceiling cavity.
The Aust brush tailed possum is a herbivore marsupial, not like the USA rodent , about the size of a big cat, really good eating with very soft fur.
They actually make excellent pets but the idiots who run the country made keeping any native as a pet illegal.
SWMBO would bring foreign students home & they would be blown out when the possums popped in to see if they could cadge a feed.
During the Bi-centennial celebrations ( white man managed to be here for 200 years without destroying the place that black man had been in for 65,000 years ) we were walking through Hyde Park.
There was a big group of tourist with lots of camera flashes so we went to investigate thinking it was some planned entertainment.
So what was it ?
A pair of brush tailed possums rummaging through the garbage can looking for scraps because the Sydney council had trimmed all of the flowers ( usual food) off the trees in the park to discourage "these pests"
The Japanese tourist stayed there for hours then followed the possums to the next bin, they thought it the best thing they had seen in the 2 weeks they had been in Australia.
You strike me as a smart man Ronno and a smart man should be able to find a perminenant solution.
