Seeing's as some are recessed, and some are flush (with reference to the cover) without the seal-protector & driver, I think I would opt for something a SLIGHT bit recessed, most important is surface condition of crank where the seal rides to make the seal, also being sure the seal "lip" has not "rolled over" .....
