Anybody of "the Gang" experiencing these bad weather issues, it's in the mid 30s here in Central Fl. this mornin, again to-nite, 80s by the week-end tho ...

View attachment 43108...View attachment 43109

Yesterday woke up to 30* the day before it was 28*, this morning it is 53* heading to upper 70s this afternoon. This weather has been a total mess. Hopefully all the trees and flowers that were blooming will make it. But thankfully the rain has stopped.

Re: For Ron

Ron,

We are all waiting (with bated breath) for the hammer drill report. I still think you should have bought a Hilti. That would only come out to around $50/hole, that's not too bad..

What goes in the holes? Lead anchors? Expanding bolts? Bubble gum? What??

Rog

I could tell ya, BUT, it will surely upset him, I will say .. each hole will have a sweeties name !! ....

Tom,

Well, that certainly sounds like a diverse landscape. "Deep East Texas", would that be like Nacogdoches? (I always liked that name.) What lives in the pasture? Is the farm a long ways from your home? I've heard of absentee land lords, but not absentee farmers, unless you rent the land out to 'others'. I wish we had a farm, the older I get the more I miss farming. (It's probably just a desire to dig a hole in the dirt in preparedness! LOL)

Rog

Just west of Nacogdoches about 30 miles, we grow pine trees. The pastures is just open fields as we don't raise livestock, had about a dozen apple, peach and pear trees but age and drought killed them off the past few years.

Story about the cities of Nacogdoches Texas and Natchitoches,Louisiana is that the Chief of the Caddo Indian Tribe had two sons who had grown up and needed to move out of the village and start their own. The Chief told one son "you walk two days towards the setting son and start a village and to the other son he said you walk two day to the raising son and there is where your village will be. Now each year Stephan F. Austin State University (my college) in Nacogdoches plays football with Northwestern State University from Natchitoches,Louisiana for a large wooden Indian named Chief Caddo. Other then that we just enjoy the place.

Rog

My friend and I were nailing the last of the decking yesterday when he fan out of nails for his nailer.
So, we went to his house to pick up more and stopped by the hardware store to pick up a bit for the new rotary hammer.
I was expecting delivery later in the day.
To my surprise, it had been delivered while we were out!
So, opened it, popped in the bit, set the depth gauge and went to drillin'...
All's I gotta say is/................. "WOW!"

I think the concrete shivered at the sight of the Bosch, cuz it was like drilling into BUTTER !!!

We used red heads in the holes,
I made angle braces from 3 x 3 x 3/16" angle iron and drilled holes in each leg.
Fastened to the posts with lag screws.
That floor ain't goin' nowhere!!

Funny thing is, while at the hardware store yesterday, I saw a well used Bosch, same one as I bought, on the
shelf right below the bits.
That drill is a rental, and I coulda rented ot for $20,00/day!!
And we had purchased bits at the same store last week.
It was either rented out last week or I just didn't see it...
Oh,well, I bought mine for $109.00 shipped, and now I own it.
I'm sure I could get my $$$$ out of it if I wanna sell it...........

I was using a two wheeler with the washer on it pulling it up on to my trailer. Got my feet on a trailer but not the washer all of a sudden I felt my feet slipping so I stopped. As soon as I stopped both my feet went out from underneath me and the washing machine landed on top of me. And that point me and the washing machine were sliding down the ramp. As fast as I can find something to grab onto I did and I kept the washing machine from sliding off but it hurt me something awful. Life goes on I'm kind of used to having my back go out on me every once in a while I've been having this problem since I was 16 years old. Some arsehole driving 60 miles an hour hit me when I was getting ready to make a left. He totaled my car and had 0 insurance. I've been dealing with this for a long time.

Geez....everything about that post sucks!
Hang in there....

My back got messed up when I got hit from behind by a '69 SS396 Chevelle while pedaling my bike to work.
That was on a 28° morning in 1982 in St. Pete.
The front of the car went under me, as my bike was so tall.
I cracked his windshield with my head, so he stopped. I went flyin' off the front of the car onto the cold ground.
Happened almost directly in front of a fire rescue station!
Never been the same since.............

Chuck hope you get to feeling better soon.

Continuing the "how I messed up my back" thread mine got messed up when I got hit from behind by what I figure was a drunk driver hauling butt one night in a heavy fog, I saw him coming up behind me fast but I was #2 at a traffic light at a major intersection. The car in front of me made a right turn and I nailed the gas just as he hit me. I felt my lower back and neck pop, ended up in the E.R. from the back of an ambulance (my first of several times). 18 years of wearing 70 pounds of firefighting gear didn't help but now I can tell when the weather changes.

I too, know of "Back-Problems", mine all started on a VERY dark late nite, when I took my date home, and was in the ceremony of saying "Good-Nite", when her 203 Lb. father came out, and stepped on my back, it's never been the same since then .....
