swapping oil filter

Not that it matters to me but I have used Fram filters on and off through the years and never had a problem with them. I use Baldwin filters now only because my son-in law sells them. Now back in my early years when I was just starting in repairs oil filters were a add on accessory on car and trucks, never seen one on a small engine.

I have never had any engine problems because of a oil filter.
And years ago I used Fram.

The man that builds my engines is the one who told me not to use them in Modified engines or small engines.

I use Napa gold in my vehicles
And wix on my mowers.

I figure something that so many swear against probably can be avoided.. so many people hate Fram they have a reason. So for a couple dollars more I can get something different

There is a plethora of evidence on why most Frams are the absolute turd of the oil filter industry. At Bobs the Oil Guy forum people have torn just about every filter apart, photographed and analyzed. Verdict: most standard orange can Frams could not be a worse design. I say most because some of the orange cans are actually made by other OEM companies, like my Kawasaki filter. PH8170 that fits the FR, FS and FX engines is made by the same OEM factory and is a good filter. Also says "made for" on the box as a hint. The Tough Guard and other premium Frams are perfectly fine, but most all the standard ones are horrible. There is nothing wrong with finding an alternate oil filter as long as you do your homework. You need to match not only the thread pitch but the bypass valve pressure, gasket size/thickness and micron rating. Better to just do a search where others have done the work for you.
